Re: How do I remove my pre-cat O2 sensors?

Here's the link to the how-to on CEG
Duratec Upper Intake Rebuild

You probably won't have to do it all, like the injectors and LIM (Lower Intake Manifold), but at least it has the UIM bolt sequence and torques. I followed the bolt sequence, and guesstimated the torques since I didn't have a torque wrench with that range on it, and I had no problems and no leaks.

Got the code read today. Bad EGR valve. Oh well, easy enough to replace.

What code was it? Frequently EGR codes are actually caused by a bad DPFE.

Re: How do I remove my pre-cat O2 sensors?

Not too sure what the code was, the guy at auto-zone (where i got the code read) just told me that the flow to the ERG was insufficient. And then showed me that it said that, so yea.

Re: How do I remove my pre-cat O2 sensors?

insuffient flow doesn't necessarily mean a bad egr..could need the path cleaned coming from the throttle body over to the egr..or a bad dpfe..you would be amazed in the difference just by cleaning that path..I would try that before buying a new EGR and still possibly having the same problem..

Here is a link to a thread talking and showing about cleaning that path.. http://www.newcougar.org/forums/showthread.php?t=122352

cleaning the UIM like your supposed to should clear out all the path to the EGR.

Re: How do I remove my pre-cat O2 sensors?

EGR insufficient flow is frequently (not always, but usually) the sign of a bad DPFE.
