Pedal Give?
So.. I just went to test drive this cougar I'm thinking of buying. I noticed however that there's about an inch of give in each of the pedals before anything engages (brake, clutch, gas). My mom's car that I drive occasionally has 0 give.
Wondering if this is standard for 99 cougars? Or are the fluid levels maybe low? |

Re: Pedal Give?
brakes and clutch can sometime have give depending on how they were bled and if they were bled properly. but the gas you should have acceleration just by barely touching the gas. I am not sure on the cougars but on my eclipse my clutch always had give and the brake had just a small amount. It was like that even after bleeding and installing new parts. I would say take your family mechanic with you and let him drive it.

Re: Pedal Give?
My gas pedal has a little play, in part from some looseness at the throttle body. This has the effect of the cruise control allowing the speed to sink a bit when I first activate it, but other than that I don't notice it.
The brake pedal in mine is so sensitive that I can lightly hold the brakes on without deactivating the cruise control (obviously I don't do this).
