Re: Mercury Cougar + Problems?

Yeah; sometimes I wish this car WAS still on the T-bird architecture.

This Cougar is on the Ford Contour platform.

I've heard mixed reviews on the contour, some people consider it the worst car ford ever built, others seem to of liked it.

Yeah, but that's true of every car.

Our Cougars are about as different as you can get from the T-bird-style Cougars - front wheel drive instead of rear wheel drive, for example. The only thing they have in common is the name badge and that cool Cougar head logo.

My father asked if it was RWD, when I said know, he was like "what the...?" that basically totally convinced him that it wasn't a T-bird in a cougar any longer.

Re: Mercury Cougar + Problems?

Door sagg seems to be a problem too as we have come to find on here with our cougars. But that's common with a lot of two door coupes with really long doors because of the wieght the hinge has to support. But it's easy and affordable to fix.

Don't know if someone posted that already.

Re: Mercury Cougar + Problems?

I never heard a word about door sag in all my 6 years here, until last week.

I wouldn't call that a common problem, by any stretch of the imagination.

Re: Mercury Cougar + Problems?

Where in Ontario are you from?

I've had mine for allmost 10 years now and haven't had any issues besides alternators. I'm still on my original fuel pump etc.

It obviously is... No 1 has addressed it until now, that's why.

How many miles on on your car anyways?
