Help PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok well i posted that my transmission has gone out completley. Well I am not able to pay a shop 1500.00 to do the job for me of rebuilding and then I asked them if I got a used transmission for it and I called everyone and the cheapest I have got was 1000.00 total which was labor and transmission. The trans is costing me 300.00 + tax. I don't know what to do. I have to have my car for work. I am willing to do the job myself but I don't know where to begin. Can someone please give me some help with this. Like I said I am willing to do the headache myself but I just need some help. please.

hey man this is Dustin the guy u got the car from. I didnt mean to more less stick ya with the car. I have been driving the car like that since i got it, i just figured the O/D was going out. I had checked a while back on maybe seeing if this guy could fix the O/D, and my dad gave me this guys name that he said was one of his friends, and he told me he could put another tranny in if this one was completely messed up for $450. So u said u found one for $300 that would be $750 put in and everything. I'll get the guys number and i'll hit ya back, so ya can get it fixed. Once again man, sorry about more less sticking ya with the car. I knew the transmission was acting up, but i didnt figure it was about to go out, cuz i changed the tranny fluid and everything all the time.

OK I am going today to get my replacement transmission but I just wanna know what other cars I can look at so I can get the best deal for the used one. 300.00 isn't bad but I don't know the mileage on it. So I don't want to get a lemon and pay double labor. So can someone please help me with this.

OK does anyone know this I have searched for two days and no luck. I still haven't gone to get it but am definitley going at 8 in the morning and going to memphis where all the big yards are around here.

I'm not sure what you need.... Cougar, Contour, Mystique transaxles should work. However at some point they changed the VSS, so be sure to get a transaxle with the same style. (Do a search for vehicle speed sensor or VSS for more info - I know there are a couple threads around here about it.)

I need a whole transmission mine is completley shot. I know i need a F83P-CA but what cars can I pull one off of.

Ford CD4E transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia lists several cars that the CD4E was used in (I'm assuming since you mentioned O/D you have an ATX - details like that are helpful when asking questions).

BUT they may be different in different vehicles. The best bet is to stick with one from a Contour, Mystique, or Cougar.
