Okay, first off, you have to get it vacuumed to remove all the air, hence the hissing, you allowed air into an area that had little to none of it. That hissing was simply pressure being released and air being let in as the fluid was leaking out. Thats why it needs to be vacuumed. You could put the refridgerent in only if you didn't drain as much as you seemed to of drained, it has to be vacuumed, otherwise, it wouldn't work. Like everyone is saying, take it in, explain what you did, and if they aren't complete idiots, they will know exactly what to do with it.

you could also just buy a can of it at a auto parts store and put it in your self, same thing, a shop can measure how many pounds goes in that way though
