Re: Car won't start

I'm posting this from my Dad's house in northern AZ. The car started up and ran fine for 3 days, and now I've driven about 250 miles away from my house for a job interview. I went to go to the interview this morning and the car again wouldn't start.

One thing I noticed. When I go to start the car, I turn the key to "On", and I hear the fuel pump turn on normally. I push the button to start the car, and it turns over normally, just without firing. When I release the button, I hear the fuel pump kick on again. I've never really paid attention to exactly what happens during "normal" operations, so I'm not sure if thats normal.

I have about 24 hours to try and get some sort of resolution to get me back down to Phoenix, I have to be at work at 10am Friday morning. I'm also very short on money, so any advice on anything I can do to just get the car back to Phoenix would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Car won't start

And how long has the push-start been wired up?

And if you don't least take the time to answer my PM and give me an update on the CD player I paid you for, I'm going to drive to AZ and re-wire your car - When you hit the push start, the airbag is going to fly out and hit you right in the nuts.

I can't believe you drove that POS 250 miles from home when you know it is being temperamental. . .

Re: Car won't start

sounds exactly like mine did when the PATs was acting wacky. I've just kept both keys with me since incase it decides to do it again with the one key.

Re: Car won't start

I'd have guessed PATS as well, but he said the security light on the dash wasn't blinking.

Of course....he probably re-wired it with a kill switch or something

Push button has been wired up for months and has had zero problems in the time its been in. It is wired up exactly as the instructions specify.

I need to make a phone call about the CD player, I'll PM you in a few minutes...

Re: Car won't start

Did you check for spark? since you say its not pats or your push button start, i would go for something like a loose or non functional ground on the coil pack. A ground is the only thing i can think of that can be so "tempermental" as others have said.

Then again think it is pats or your start system.

Are you SURE the PATS light isn't doing anything? If that's the case, I'd start checking grounds. Look under the battery tray especially, since you probably had that out when you did the tranny swap.
