Cause here, when we have the yearly state inspections, if you fail you don't pay when you go back to get retested. It's just $30 up front.

When I had to get it done at Canadian Tire, same thing. I just told the guy it wasn't the original motor and that it was a 3L and that was it.

Sucks that you got screwed like that.
I called that canadian tire and a few others and they refused to even admit there was a hot rod class when i told them i swapped the motor.

Honestly!? I gotta say, i'm shocked.

I've had my e-test done twice now and both times, not even so much as a hint of resistance when I told them the motor had been swapped... and my motor looks EXACTLY like stock. You should have no problem at all. Your motor looks nothing like a 2.5L.

I gotta etest before september. I have no idea how my test is gonna go after my swap (went straight 2.5 to 2.5). Since I just undid the exhaust and put it straight back on with new gaskets, it SHOULD be fine. I hope it'll be

Ed, your car should be fine. Your 02's would have tripped off it is was having trouble with the new motor.

See the thing is, my CEL is on but there's a wiring issue somewhere between the OBDII bus and the PCM, so when I connect a scanner in there, it won't read anything. So right now it could be ANYTHING. But I have a feeling it's something with the exhaust because I remember I only have one bolt on each exhaust connecting part (y pipe?) when I'm supposed to have two. So I have exhaust leaks. I'm hoping when I get the bolts put in and securely connect the exhaust, the CEL'll turn off

sounds kinda like my story last year Mark....only I do have the 2.5. I failed miserably, paid the $$. Stated the test HAD to be off. Went to another place and was charged the full pprice again (if you don't go to the same place you have to pay full price for the second run). Passed with flying colors. The guy actually had to call it in to confirm the test was conducted properly out of fear he might be questioned about passing a car 15 minutes after it failed at another loaction.
