    Re: My 3L swap

Today is going to be a big day.

Suspension is going back in. Injector harness is being moded and installed in the car. Roll resistors going back in. Going to flush the coolant lines, put the new coolant in. Fill the trans with fluid and fire her up

Tomorow im going to fix all the vacuum leaks but I figure today I should be able to start it atleast.

    Don't Forget Motor Oil!

Oh and Power steering fluid. Also check the brake fluid since we bled the clutch.

    Re: My 3L swap

The only vacuum line you wont be keeping is the green one for the EGR.
    grey goes to hvac
    red goes to fuel
then run the big black one from the back of the uim goes to the brake booster.

The car probably won't run if all the vacuum line are not closed off. The fuel is regulated by the vacuum going to the regulator. So the less vacuum there is going to it, the more fuel it allows through.

    Re: My 3L swap

Update on today: Didnt get as much done as I planned but I am making progress. I finished the injector harness and it turned out PERFECT. Problem was it wasnt clearing the UIM so I had to cut some plastic out between the front and back divider between the UIM. You cant see any of it but it gave me just enought room for the fuel rail and the injector harness to fit in perfectly.

Tomorow im going to flush the cooling system. Throw all my fluids in and throw my lowering springs back on and mount it up on the car.

    Re: My 3L swap

Update: Still not started. Progress is slow but steady. Who ever said this would take 1 day lol

So the vacuum lines are done. Roll resistors are back in in the car. All wires are connected except this random one. Any help? Do I need it ? it looks like a ground for something?

I put the oil and trans fluid in and flushed the coolant. Its cool how much coolant stays in your system. Tomorow I need to figure out a better place for my coil pack as the spark plug wires do not reach.

    Re: My 3L swap

    Mich,
that is your knock sensor, I can't believe i forgot to hook that up when i was down there. Sorry about that.
Good work on the vacuum lines and fuel system.
Remember when you are starting it a few tips.
before you go turning it over reprime your fuel system. Just turn the key to on position without cranking enough times till you hear the system is re primed(the pump will run a couple seconds each time you do it and you can hear the change in pitch when its good)

and to get oil through the motor, unplug your coil pack after you have charged your fuel system and crank it for a few seconds 3 or 4 times. It will move oil through your motor so its not so harsh on first start.

replug it and leave the cap off the coolant tank to get any air out of the system. then start her up!

1000 km so far and all is good! Still havent fixed my vacuum lines as I have been busy with other side jobs. As long as it runs and idles im in not rush to fix the small stuff.

Averaging 29MPG so far, keeping it under 3k RPM. Starting the datalogs to tweak the tune this week

Glad to hear it's treating you well. I drove the my Cougar last night for the fist time in 7 months. I missed her! It's nice to have a working sunroof after all these years!
