Now I'm reallllllly pissed!! Ok, just got the car back on Friday night from getting the timining chain tensioner and guess what happened last night? Alternator went...........again!!!! I just got the thing replaced along with a new battery 3 or months ago as some of you may remember. WTF am I supposed to do with the car? I can't keep taking it back to the shop every F**king week to get fixed for relatively large parts like this. I don't know.......more and more I'm leaning towards selling and getting something other than a Ford. Luckily I bought the extended warranty when I picked up the car last otherwise I'd be out the money to repair it. One more thing goes wrong and it's as good as sold!!! I've had it!!!

<sorry about the rant everyone, but F**k am I frustrated!!!>

That sucks... did you get the alternator fixed under that recall?

Don't know why you'd get ANOTHER ford if this one's giving you so much trouble...

That really does suck. On my old car I lost the serpintine belt. When they replaced it they put it on incorrectly and screwed up my alternator. Are you sure that they didn't do something stupid like that. Good luck and hopefully these things stop happening.

Alternator was fixed under the recall the FIRST time. Now it's getting done under warranty. I'm definitely not getting Ford next time around. I don't know, they may have screwed something up when they did the timing chain thing.

Sorry to hear it Dom. You know I wouldn't blame you if you chose outside of Ford. Their quality has been crap as of late. With all the troubles I've had with my car, I'm leaning towards a Nissan or Toyota. Of course my troubles have been smaller, but numerous.
Water Pump failure, power steering rack that belw up and now leaks continuously, tranny mounts that weren't even installed, broken drivers seat rails, multiple rotor replacements, oxygen sensors that it seems to go through like they are goin out of style, etc. etc.

If anything big does happen, I hear you, new car here I come. Hold on for now though, maybe this will work itself out.

Problem is........I can't afford to buy a "new" car. I'd have sell mine and buy a used one since I'm still paying off my Cougar. I don't know what I'll end up buying if I sell my car. Maybe a used T/A with low kms or something of that nature. If I end up losing my baby, may as well get something with some extra umph. Hopefully, like you said, it'll all work itself out. I'm just not sure how much more of this I can take. I'll have to see what happens over the next little while before I make a decision.

You see, this is REALLY weird! I haven't had a single problem with my Cougar, it's only been in the shop for things that are totally out of my control (i.e. key job and accident)! I don't know, maybe with more kilometers comes more problems, but my car has 40,000km on it already, so I dont understand....

Anyways, i'd really think this out before you make your decision, you don't want to do something you're going to regret!

i'm in the same situation as mike....only minor things have gone wrong with my car....all the major stuff has been caused by other idiots...maybe its the low kms (i have 30 grand on mine), or maybe its cuz mine is a 2000??? I certainly know it's not the way i treat my car, cuz i tend to drive it really hard...

hey dom, i got an idea, wanna trade cars (you know how much i like your car...)? I'll even include my seat belt pads!!!

p.s. mike, whats the count down on your license suspension?

I think you should have the dealer find out if there is a grounding problem for the electrical system. I mean, there was the recall for the grounding cable for the battery, or something like that, you now have 2 alternators go bad, and a battery too, IIRC? Definitely something messed up with the electrical.
