    Rear seat removal?

Ok, I'll ask you guys before I go to the Interior section... I've searched both here and on TeamNECO and everybody points to the same How-To that's not a how-to on seat removal.

I want to pull the rear seat lowers out, so I can easily access the side panels for removal. The seats in my '99 were easy, they tended to pop up by themselves but Laser Red's seats are in there but good.

How do you pull out the rear seat lowers? I looked for the white plastic thing, but don't see it, so maybe I'm not looking in the right spot? I did find an old post by Keane about pulling up the center cupholder thing first, so I'll try that tonight. Any hints guys?

BTW, the how-to for the door panel removal is either wrong, or they changed the fasteners in the 01 cars, because the screw in the bottom front corner (under the screw cover in the fabric area) was not a Philips on my door panels, but a Torx You don't want to know how long that took me to figure out. Now to find some wiring harnesses so I don't have to cut and splice...

    RE: Rear seat removal?

If you pull back the carpet just below the cushion on the sides, you'll see an access hole where the "white plastic things" are visible. You squeeze those to get them to push up through the metal frame.

There is also a hook in the middle behind the cup holder. Pull up and look underneath and you can see how that comes out.

If you wanna bring it over I can help out.

    RE: Rear seat removal?

::Sigh:: on the 01s it's black plastic. It's also remarkably fragile. Do NOT attempt to remove the rear seats when you're upset... I now have two broken plastic clips, but the seats are out. Still trying to find wiring harnesses, 'cause I do not want to cut and solder.

Seems like all instructions are for 99-00, and all the little crap changed on the 01+

    Thanks Andy.

Wiring harness is probably on the back of the speakers.

I'm guessing that your replacing the speakers since your getting behind your rear side panels?

    RE:Rear seat removal?

Sare -- attempting to replace all the stock speakers with new aftermarkets thanks to my tax refund . If I don't do it now, I won't be able to do it later, there won't be enough discretionary income in a few weeks. The rear seats have to come out to get the rear side interior panels out, to allow unfettered access to the speakers.

Once things settle down, I'll post pics of my new toys, and the gutted interior of Laser Red.

Aaron -- bingo! I don't want to have to cut the stock harness off, because I don't want to have to be soldering, wire nutting, or taping. But I can NOT find a set of harnesses for the 2001. I asked in Audio, and got an answer, went out and bought them at Ckt City, and they aren't even close to fitting. Looks like the 99/00 is different than the 01+

And I've been just a little stressed lately, as evidenced by the broken seat clips, because of a death in the family. So... if I'm a little short or possibly rude with people, forgive me in advance.
