New Toy (Not 56k friendly)

I got myself a summer fun car. Check it out. Its a 1977 Fiat Spider 124. Almost everything is in good working order, except the differential makes noise. I joined a Fiat owners club, and lucky me one of the major parts guys is here in Columbus. He has a rear end that Im prolly gonna get from him and put it in. Other then that it leaks a tiny bit of oil. I just cant wait to drive it around!

Engine gurus, its a 1.8l 90hp DOHC. Which takes anywhere from 10w-40 to 20w-50.

Heres a video of me driving it, you can hear the whining noise.

And heres some pics.

Re: New Toy (Not 56k friendly)

I don't know much about the whole fiat community...but would it be a sin to paint it black? I just don't like the burgandy color. Other than that, it looks fun.

Re: New Toy (Not 56k friendly)

I am definately going to be repainting the car. The paint is kinda funky in places anyways. Black was the color choice I had. Mmmmmm, black car with red leather.

Nice!

I like the non-English on the instruments Will you be doing a restoration? I noticed a bit of rust - still pretty nice for the age and miles. Good find.

I practiced driving stick in an MGB (learned to downshift into a corner), so I have a soft spot for all small, foreign convertibles

Re: New Toy (Not 56k friendly)

I plan on making it look nice as possible, not a complete restoration. It really is in great shape for its age. There is some rust on that wheel well. Guys son I bought it from backed into a trailer. I actually think I saw some rot there to, so I need to get some rust converter on there and patch it up.

I was actually looking at MGB's also Mark. Since I got the Fiat, my dads been looking at MGB's, MG Midgets, Triumphs, or other Fiats. Its a fun little car, and the stick is like a mile high.

Re: New Toy (Not 56k friendly)

Very cool man. I can't wait to get through with my wedding expenses, and get some money together for a house so I can then finally get a cool project vehicle. I support the black on red look!
