Re: Ohio BS thread!
Okay, so i pulled my external drives apart and hooked them up to my computer. When i started the computer the drive from the 500 gig started making the same noise it was doing before. So it's definitely a problem with the drive itself.
My computer did read the 1 tb drive (which is really two 500 gig drives) but it says the data is corrupt. So it looks like i'll have to format it. I'll loose data on it but luckily there wasn't much. Now i just need to figure out what i want to do with the 500 gig drive (aka paper weight)...

Re: Ohio BS thread!
The problem with reading the data from the two 500GB drives is probably that the external enclosure also had a raid controller which configured the drives into a 1TB RAID 0. So when you pull them out of the enclosure and break the array and try to read them separately the data appears corrupt.

Re: Ohio BS thread!
Hello oHIo.
Brian. I believe you'd have to set up a raid for the two drives. I belive most motherboards have an onboard raid controller to do this, but I've never messed with it before. So they're reading as one single drive, or two seperate single drives? If they're reading as two seperate drives, why would you want to connect them together?

Re: Ohio BS thread!
At the moment it's reading the two drives as a one single drive. I did read in the manual about messing with the raid controller, but decided not to and just hooked them up. So at the moment the computer reads the two drives as one but it can't recognize the data that is on them. I was wondering if i can do something that will enable the computer to be able to read the data that is currently on them.
