Re: Ohio BS thread!

As far as I know that lifetime Craftsman warranty only applies to hand tools like wrenches, sockets, ratchets, etc.

You may be right.

I still have all the paperwork from when we bought it brand new; looks like I have a little reading to do.

Re: Ohio BS thread!

I can't remember what I was trying to return when I learned that...I think an air impact.

Re: Ohio BS thread!

W00t! Just a bad connection on my angel eye ring, a little snip-snip and some electrical tape, and she's back to having four eyes! That should hold her till I can get some decent quick connects to make it permanent.

My garage door has been like that for a year now. One of the two coils snapped. The door opener isn't powerful enough to lift it with one coil. I just to have help it - I still use the opener, but I stand there and help lift the door. It comes down OK. I've just been too lazy and too cheap since the wedding/honeymoon/etc. expenses to worry about it.

Bad news Andy, the coil springs aren't part of the garage door opener, they're part of the door itself.

Re: Ohio BS thread!

Oh man. I saw one of those coil's snap back before, they're violent! Luckily, no one was near it. My garage door can't decide if it wants to open or close on some days. Other days it works perfectly fine, it's got a mind of it's own.

So I went out and bought a heat gun. I need to rip open the legacy headlights and remove that reflector. Just makes things easier then the oven method. Plus, there's always plenty of uses for a heat gun.

The thing that scares me about angel eyes is the fact you need to drill a hole and seal it up. I'm sure a little hot glue would do the trick (not sure what you guys use), but I really don't want them enough to buy the parts and put everything together. They look good no doubt. You did a really good job on yours Mark.

Well, guess it's time to head over to Home Depot and see what I can find...

Thanks man.

I drilled holes in the chrome reflector for the tube's leads to exit, but those are all within the sealed portion of the headlight, no sealing required.

The leads then exit the headlight housing through a small hole I drilled in that removable cover on the rear - the one held in by the wire clip. The inverter box is sticky taped onto the back of that cover as well. So only one hole needs sealed, and it's (hopefully!) on the back away from as much of the splashing or leaking water into the engine compartment as possible.

Don't mess with that spring. They have to be tightened to be installed properly, and once tightened they hold huge amounts of force. The guy who replaced the spring on my parents garage door when I was younger said he knew of someone getting killed because the were trying to tighten the spring, the tool slipped, and caused the tool he was using to impale him.

Re: Ohio BS thread!

thats only if its the tensioner spring that sits over the long part of the door. stores dont even sell those because of how they install. if its one that goes from the door back towards the opener those arent that hard to install

Re: Ohio BS thread!

So, anyone a member over on columbus racing? What a bunch of douche bags over there, I am making lots of friends over there right now. I was going to just stop posting over there altogether, but its comical how a couple of guys over there think they are such bad asses.
