..with you guys that I am apparently the only person in my 5-employee department to avoid the final round of layoffs (for now), which included my manager. This makes the 4th time I've avoided the 'smoking gun', and I'm not optimistic about the next round which will probably come about in 6-8 months considering how poor my client account (Nortel) is doing.

Win some, lose some, I guess. The funny thing is, the people that did get laid off hate CSC so much that they can't stop smiling, because now they have a reason to look for another job.

My current manager doesn't mind me spending all my downtime on the net. Actually, we play Unreal Tournament and Jedi Knight II vs. each other and a few people from one of the other departments once or twice a week.

But the funny thing is, if we weren't here when something went wrong or broke, Nortel would lose about 2-3 million bucks every 6 hours.

Tell that to my manager and 3 ex-coworkers.

One day, we're just gonna let things break, so they will know why it is we are here when we fix it and make them only lose, say, 500k instead of 3 mil.

If I were you I would be looking around. Not only you, anyone should do that just in case.

Yeah lucky old you.

Your next move should be to make it clear you like your job and want to work directly for them or start searching for a new job
