Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...

the benefit of working with an engine builder, is he gets priority order status... the fact that Pauter has a set of rods in stock, and that he orders such a large volume of pistons from Diamond I'm sure helps. My prices on the pistons are also much lower than I have seen elsewhere

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...

What is the part number for the diamond racing pistons? I have a guy I go to school with that works in the shop. He said to get him the specs/part number and he'll get me a set for the 3L.

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...

if he works at diamond you should just need to give him the pistons specs.

My pistons were complete custom made from the piston pin offset location, to the ring land locations to the dish size. Also the ring grooves were made for my custom hellfire rings which are going in, so really my part number won't serve you much use unless you are using everything else I'm using.

Also if you have a diamond hook up, why didn't you speak up earlier? Although I beleive I got my pistons for cheaper than anyone else here could of gotten them for, I wonder what an inside person can get them for.

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...

Finally... I finished the engine bay prep work. I can now proceed with re-assembling the engine bay at least

Given that they stopped making our cars 4+ years ago, I do beleive this is the cleanest Cougar engine bay out there

Even the subframe got cleaned and a fresh coat of paint

Calipers nicely painted with Duplicolor brush on caliper paint

I ended up painting the hubs, even if you can barely see them.. just because i had the paint, was bored, and well they look much better like this now

That looks really nice Pierre. Are you fabbing your own turbo kit, or did you end up buying one of those used ADC kits?

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...

myself and jrak (mostly him) are going to fab up a kit.. we came up with some ideas on where to run the piping last night... after the motor is in, i'm going to put 500 miles on the car to break it in, then bring it to jrak's house... from there i'm litterally its turbo build time... i don't imagine it would take much more than 3 weeks to completely fab a kit, and order whatever parts we didn't order in the first place...

Tonite I actually started to work on the engine bay wiring harness.... Ron, I'm sorry, but with a turbo kit, and what's going on in that engine bay, I really don't want something extra in there that could just lead to confusion or whatever it may be... so prototype II of the headlight flashers, was cut out of the car, and the headlights wired back to normal operation... heck I'm even getting rid of my setup for the cooling fan turn on.. the fewer the wires, the less likely my chances are for something to go wrong...

I still have more to do, in terms of cleanign up the wiring harness... if i'm lucky tomorrow it'll be done, but more than likely it won't be done until Thursday (Survivor night means less wife to worry about)

Yet another project that I am going to be really proud to be a part of. Maybe I will be the first person next to Pierre to drive his car But I will settle for taking a ride in "The Chair"
