IMO yes, as long as he is somewhat nice to them. I know that building something like this, warrants not being nice, but they should hold...for awhile.

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...

The stock driveshafts will not take the stress that Puck will put on them. I've seen how he drives with the 3L with the N2O OFF! Hehe, best invest in some Drive-Axle Shop Stage 2 or 3's, Pierre...

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...

since a snapping driveshaft won't damage anything else (maybe a few scratches) and the drive shafts can be changed anytime with little effort... how about I save the money on them an opt not to get them right away...

heck for that matter, i have yet to see anyone snap a stock driveshaft, although i bet it is quite possible, i question if it will happen on 350hp/tq. (remember n2o only gets injected 2nd gear and above, where driveshaft stress is not as severe)

2 years ago we though it was impossible to do anything aove 250hp on stock rods... we have seen more than a few do 350hp on stock rods... hence why my logic of waiting until it actually breaks...

Been to CEG lately? Since the majority of performance stuff is done over there first you might wanna search there. Lots of people have had problems with the driveshafts ripping themselves apart by the splines (not sure if that's the proper term, its just what came to mind right now).

Of course, I prefer to not have things break causing me to have downtime on an already limited schedule of having the car out, but if you don't mind downtime now and then, as as long as your sure it won't cause other damage then I can see why you'd wait on a budget build... No worries, if ya need em, I can get em for ya quick...

http://www.contour.org/ubbthreads/sh...=&fpart=2&vc=1 - 450 ft/lbs on stock axles, same thread mentions GCK axles, far cheaper than DSS.

Warmonger won't use DSS axles on his insane setup, neither will anyone else who has spent time looking into it... (fastcougar to name one)...

new forum doesn't have anything about them yet... but more searching on the old one will produce the same...

no need to spend money on items that get you no gains...

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...

After having a shaft break on me 1/2 way down the strip and sending me into the wall destroying my $10k Civic, you're damn straight I'll spend the money on em.

And just an FYI, Warmonger and I discussed this long ago, as did Buckshot and I -- these are the people who helped me decide...

If you do decide to get upgraded axles don't get the ones that Mark (Instigator) had on his. They seemed like they were nothing but problems for him.
