You wouldn't happen to have a profile view picture of a cut-out going across a nub would you?

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...
Wow, long time no post/update/etc...
Anyhow I had a bunch of mishaps with the engine, basically it came down to an engine builder who was supposed to be doing me a favor, really just dragging his feet with everything. Finally when I got my motor back, after basically exploding on him for taking so long, I got really tied up with work. In fact this week I took a vacation, just because I've been feeling overwhelmed with work. So this week and the past few weekends I have done quite a bit I did some minor stuff to the engine bay, particularly I welded in a plate to cover up the hole that was used for the GMK intake, sand that smooth, I also did some minor work to the strut towers (put in nut-serts). In the end, I had a couple of spots that could of required me to repaint. So I did, but this time using Automotive Urethane paints, which gives a far more durable finish, much more able to take the abuse the paint in an engine bay takes. I still need to cut the fender some, and another circle cut-out in the engine bay for the turbo, but I need the kit, and engine to figure out perfect placement, so I wille either 1) be very careful when I cut them or 2) be creative and re-paint them without painting anything else when done If I didn't mention it in another post, the turbo is a T3/T4 60-1... basically good for 550WHP, and it should still spool before 4K. I also have a Turbo XS 4 stage manual boost controller, and the upgraded chip from SCT which allows me to switch between 4 programs + stock on the fly without turning the car off. If you are catching what this is for, its so I can be driving around and decide its time to fly, without having to shut it down. The intercooler is huge for this thing, and will look great poking through my predator front bumper. I scored an SVT radiator, but one of the nipples on it was broken, so I need to find something suitable (I sold my stock radiator). Then I'll just jb-weld a new nipple on there. <insert immature comment here> I made a fulcrum compatible with our cables for the TB, then I polished it to match the intake. I still need to polish the valve covers, but well, I just don't have time right now. For now I will install it with dull valve covers... maybe I'll quickly paint them (maybe not), but some time over the winter I'll polish them nicely. I'm getting the hang of polishing aluminum, and although it is a little time consuming, the multiple die grinders, bit attachments, ec that I have cut the effort down significantly and the results are certainly worth it. All the engine bay turbo piping is also going to be aluminum, and when I get a chance they will also get the same polishing treatment. The goal here is to pop the hood and get blinded. The headers, got an EGT bung treatment, and are currently sitting on my deck out in the sun, with a fresh wrap done to them. They were already ceramic coated, but I intend to keep them very hot inside, and this mod alone should give me a 500+rpm earlier spool up of the turbo. I still need to build a TB bracket. I'm taking the stock one where it mounts to the intake, then using 2 small "L" brackets I'm going to come off the TB mounting points. From there, I will join the 2 "L" brackets, and the part coming from the intake with a plate which will contain the holes for the cables. I may also do a cross brace from the front plate to either side on the top and bottom, but I'm not sure yet. So all that is fine and dandy, but I still need a few more parts for my engine, like a pick-up tube, and a bunch of bolts/washers and a couple of gaskets. I ordered what I beleive to be everything I need, except for fluids, from Bill Jenkins earlier this week. He said he would call me if there was a problem, and there has been no phone call, so they may actually arrive today at Jason's. If they arrive today, and I have time to meet up with Jason, I will install the much needed pick-up tube, button up the engine for good, then bolt up the transmission. If all is still going well, I should be painting the entire assembly on Sunday, but that's if all the moons align, and so far that has not happened for me. If I paint it Sunday, that's all good, but then I won't be able to work on it again, until Halowe'en or maybe after due to some work and a slur of parties cropping up for next weekend. Unless we get super cold mid-November, I hope to be driving it around at least naturally aspirated. I would love if someone has a set of steelies and all-season tires laying around they want to sell. As long as there isn't salt on the ground I'll drive the cougar, but once the weather gets to like 45* or colder, summer tires just don't stick, hence the need for all-season rubber.

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...
Ok.. I just finished the TB bracket... I'm very pleased with it. Just needs another coat of paint on either side and it should be done. Sturdy, and accordingly to my measurements is 0.945" away from the fulcrum, which during test fitting is kinda what I needed. Hopefully it works out perfect and is not too tight. I can take up slack with washers/spacers on the peddle side, but I can't add slack if its too tight.
For fabrication, I have to cut 2 more holes in the engine bay, and possibly cut a few more things to make the turbo fit, but all that stuff is after I get it running. I can put the engine in right now, but would rather fabricate 2 more plates. 1) I have a custom stopper I made for my TB fulcrum which stops it at perfect WOT. Right now the plate is made of steel and painted silver. I think I might just make one out of aluminum, my only fear is that this piece can not flex, and aluminum may be more forgiving. I'll have to cut one and see. 2) The EGR will be removed. The port on the headers is already welded closed, and since the TB I'm using doesn't use the same ports for the egr on the intake, I jb welded it closed on the intake as well. Right now, howver where the EGR bolts up (after I pass emissions I will phyiscally remove it), there will be a hole. I wanted to fabricate an aluminum plate to fit perfectly, then just polish it to a sheen, and use nice counter sunk screws to keep it in place. I don't need either plate, but will still make them, which unfortunately means more griding, which means messy garage still, so until I'm done fabricating (maybe tonite) I won't clean my fairly dirty garage.

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...
The pick-up tube did not arrive today, so there is no way this engine is getting finished until after next week. I did finish the plates for the egr block off, and throtle stop. I have not polished the pieces yet, and began to think that after I pass emissions, I may just JB weld a plate for the egr, instead of bolting one there.
Here are some pics with what i've done so far in the last few days. The engine as it sits right now in my garage, basically the engine builder painted the block and heads. After I put the oil pick-up tube in, I'll mount hte transmission and coat it all again. ![]() Last night my son wanted to work with me in the garage, so I had him put on safety glasses, and give me a hand. ![]() Headers wrapped and drying in the sun ![]() TB, custom bracket, egr block off plate ![]() TB Wide open, (Yes i'll get new screws for the plate, but everything else is optimized ![]() This look nice, and just think the intake is filthy with greasy fingerprints... when shined up ...
