I'm running an Unorthodox Racing Kevlar clutch and Flywheel with both Quaife LSD's.

My original plan was to wait until next year and get a set made by a racing manufacturer, since I have many connections in that area, the down side of that is the price will be premium... If I do snap an axle in the meantime I was just going to pickup a GCK axle at a local parts store, they're only like 90 something dollars, and are stronger than stock, but certainly not bullet proof.

I will give a call and see what they can do -- obviously for my own reasons I will not do a GB on this, but I have no problem hooking you up man...

With the way Group Buys are handled on this board, and the admins reluctance to do something constructive about it... I don't blame you.

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...
Well this is kinda pretty. It's done upto 320 grit right now, I expect to have it to 1000 grit tonite (maybe tomorrow), and polished by the weekend. There are a few low spots left in some of the intricate grooves, but I can spend another 10+ hours digging them out or just leave it and let the glare from the polish distract you from the few low spots.
I have been keeping track and am upto 24 hours of work into this. Much less than what most others have told me, however I do have a slew of power tools at my disposal including a dremmel with flex shaft, a roto zip with custom dimmer (controls speed) and flex shaft, a standard die grinder, and a right angle die grinder. Since I have a pressure knob on my compressor I can control the air flow to the die grinders, slowing them down just enough to not cut grooves. The dimmer on the roto zip does the same, and the dremmel is a variable speed one as well. PS: Sandblasting didn't happen as they wanted too much money and couldn't guarantee it would work. PPS: Sorry for the bad pic, my wife has our camera in her purse, which is at her work, so I had to take this with my camera phone ![]()

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...
I did try sand blasting it myself, with beads, and didn't get very far, so I figured an industrial sand blaster would have better luck, but when I showed it to him he basically balked and said not gonna happen. "I can try but I can't guarantee you'll get the results you want, and I want 70$ CDN to try".
So the problem was I wasn't spending 70$ for someone to not do what I wanted done. At that time 70$ CDN =aprox= 50$ US, so it wasn't a cost issue, but more of a "will it work" issue On that note, I'm interested in knowing if you can actually sandblast a stock intake and make it smooth. Some people have said they did it, but only for powder coating, which doesn't require the surface to be smooth.

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...
Yeah, I think the overall steps would still require some manual work -- but it'd eliminate a lot of the hard stuff. The blasting media could have slowly been pushed to smaller and smaller bits, and I've seen cast products come out looking like brushed alum in the end. Then just polish it up and yer done. But ya, yers still turned out great!

Re: PuckPuck's insane 3L build...
lookin good puck, I see you even ground off the nubbies. I hope that doesnt become a weak point for you. I had a spare that I cut open so I would know safe tolerances on depth, it can get a little thin depending how deep you pitted it [especially if its max honed].
