Yes and no, the situation I am in at GM is a big mess. I am a contract employee through Ricardo MEDA but they are contracted to GM through Allegis Group. See I get pimped out to 2 companies. I got a raise 3 months ago.(20%) and Ricardo is getting paid Allegis is getting paid( meaning GM has approved the PO) But Allegis hasn't approved the raise to be released to me. So everyone is making more and more money off of me while I still get paid crap and my insurance has gone up twice a year for the 3 years I have been here. I found out that Ricardo makes a factor of 3 profit off when they bill Gm vs. what I get paid. GM wont hire me direct because I don't have a 4 year degree.

Which is again BS because the standard is a 2 year technical degree or 8 years in the field. Well I have 10 years and I perform at a much higher level than anyone that has been here for 20 years. Trust me if I had a 4 year ME degree like they wanted me to I wouldn't be in a Technical engineering postion. No, I would be an engineer period. I would be the one telling the person in my current position what to do. But wait that is what I do already But it's me telling 2 PhD's what to do and how to do it.

Re: Motor Cities Chat Thread!

Yes sir, I pay $2.57 pre tax so actual amount seen taken from me after taxes is only like $1.50 every two weeks for insurance. That is the highest level of dental and vision available since I use those to their fullest and a lower level health since I don't use it. Now after new year when Lynsey and I are married and I put her on my insurance it will go up. Mainly because I have to have the best available for health since she goes to the doctor a lot more often than I do. Even at that for both of us and the best of all three (health, dental and vision) insurances I will only be out about $100 max pretax from my check.

My benefits here are VERY good though. I also get standard for free 2x salary for life insurance (can buy extra at discounted rates) good short and long term disability, 2% pay auto into 401k without me putting in anything and 100% match for the next 4% so basically I put in 4% and it is 10% into the account 100% vested from day 1.

Maybe I should send you my resume :P

Well from what I understand AVL being a European Company they take good care of their people and the insurance is supposed to be pretty good. But I will know all that next week when the offer shows up in the mail

Thats cool. European companies do tend to take better care of their people the US based companies. Especially when it comes to vacation time. The one german company I interviewed with and almost ended up working for started off with 6 weeks of vacation a year.
