I have been busy learnign everything I can about taking a cruise so that I knwo I am not getting screwed with the cruise we just booked this week for our honeymoon (don't pay till the end of the month and if we don't want to do it and found a better deal by then we are free and clear).

What is it about cruises, that you want to know?

Well as of right now we are scheduled for a carnival caribbean druise that hits Grand Cayman; Roatan, Hondurus; Belize; and Costa Maya, Mexico. I was mainly trying to get a grasp on how much extra expense I should plan to have beyond the "all inclusive" rate. I was also mainly just trying to see if I could find any better rate anywhere for that cruise, it is our honeymoon so we are getting a suite. The only thing strange abotu the suite is we don't get a specific room assignmetn and get a 50/50 shot (their claim) of getting a penthouse suite or the regular suite and we pay $100 less/ person than the regular suite and about $700 less/person than the penthouse suite. The one suprise was that soda isn't included in the all inclusive, that just kinda suprised me, I can understand beer wine and liquor not being included but come on fountain pop is cheap.

well, personally...try a travel agent. They can sometimes work magic! Yes, it's annoying that pop isn't included...but, juice, milk, choco milk, hot chocoalte..all included. You can buy a pop card if you're really desperate for soda...I don't receall ever actually missing it....

Extra expense...well...that all depends on what you want to do. For each location, plan to spend $50 - $150 / person on a shore excursion. They vary from shopping / historical tours, to swimming with dolphins. Generally, Ron and I always go for snorkelling / catamaran thing. Around $75 / person ish. Usually also includes booze and sometimes a meal / snack. You can get a list of shore excursion from carnival.com. They won't say how much they are, just how many $$$$, and you can guess from there. (this is where atravel agent can be helpful) Souveniers...depends on what you want to buy. Carival has a drink of the day everyday..always good, it's like $2.50 and you get to keep the cup

With the exception of alcohol...taking a cruise is great, as long as you participate. They have fun little game show / trivia type things ALL The time, and you can win a cheap little metal or trophey, make the video, or plain old just have fun. The shows are great...

I think I may have my fiance call the travel agent we talked to back tell her what one we want and see if she can get us in any cheaper with flight and all that stuff included.

good luck! I know, ours always does a great job getting everything from air to transfers to cruise with an upgrade for less than we could find elsewhere.

She is checking in with the agent today. If she can get us in for the same air fair and cruise price but with free transfers, an excursion or some flew money to use for drinks on the boat or something that would be great. We'll see what this lady can do.
