Curves makes super good sense. I mean really, women weren't meant to be stick thin like society would like us to be. Real women were meant to have curves. Unless you as a man, likes to hold onto a 2x4 ??

As an American bystander from Ohio, when I first saw "Curves" I was ultimately confused and would never had associated that with a fitness center. The name and signs of fitness places generally put "Fitness" or a pic of someone doing aerobics or maybe weight lifting. Just another one of those crazy Canadian things, like LCBO's! When I want my liquor I wanna drive into one of my liquor stores with the comfort of my own vehicle and pay realistic prices like $10 for a bottle of Smirnoff

Im just teasing, it just sounds like a weird name for a place of sweaty profit.

Shoot that is cheap for places around here. The Lifetime down the street from me is $90.00 a month and $250 or $300 to sign up., they YMCA is like $60.00 a month and $200 or something crazy to sign up.

Wow, that's nuts! Ron and I pay $80 a month for both of us, and the gym is 24 hours.

ditto on that...even tho I want to lose weight, I still wanna keep the hourglass figure...my sister and mom are both skinny as hell and I think its totally gross! I agree that Curves is actually a great name for a fitness place, because unless ur between the ages of 12-16 then you understand that being stick skinny really isnt all that great

Ya, i pay (well my mom pays) $40/mth for me monthly...90$ a month is outrageous

Curves is meant to appeal to women only, so it went away from the traditional fitness names. A lot of women expressed discontent with "traditional" fitness clubs due to their co-ed nature, so Curves wanted to distance themselves from that by as wide a margin as possible.

I dunno about the rest of u ladies, but I would rather work out in a co-ed gym...I guess I prefer mixed company?
