Regular combustion... combustion with EGR.. Silicone oil seeded air for PIV(Particle Image Velocimitry) Seed the inlet air and then iluminate combustion with a 580nm laser beam and the silicone oil fluoresces and illuminates pockets of rich combustion.

Sounds interesting...like a very sophisticated engine dye normally used to check for leaks

so yoru saying because you can't build it right in the first place to stay clean?

Welll if it was a conventional engine with conventional ring packs it would be a different story. That and the silicone oil makes a damn mess everywhere
