friggin cold weather... hurt my *****

Well, this morning I was outside getting all the ice/snow off my windows... there was about 5 inches of snow just piled up on the top of my car, so I figured I would brush it off while I was at it. In doing this, I just barely happened to *tap* the antenna with my hand, nothing out of the ordinary at all.. but the damn thing snapped right off. Im guessing it must have been extremely brittle or something due to the cold.. who knows. Now my problem is this, since the thing snapped off, there is a chunk of it remaining in the antenna mast. So Im either gonna have to a) figure out a way to get that chunk out so i can screw a new antenna in there, or b) ill have to buy a new mast in addition to an antenna.. so if anyone has any ideas how to get this damn broken piece out of the mast, im open to any suggestions!!

Now onto phase 2 of my little rant here.. In looking at antenna options, I really reallllly like the antenna's at Black Diamond Racing Black Diamond Racing. These are sold as Focus antenna's, but for some reason its in the back of my head that the Focus and Cougar antenna mast's are the same, so it should fit... anyone know if im just imagining things here?

im not sure how you get that out but i have an idea..
would a little vice grips give you grip on the inner silver circular part and then you could just screw it out?
otherwise i have no idea
