What I want

I want to be able to push my car on a track, but not on a straight line and not in an autoX environment. What I'm thinking is something like Gran Turismo. Those tracks were gorgeous; you might think it's funny but it's been a dream of mine for a few years now, to be able to cruise freely around corners, cutting through the apex without going onto the "wrong" side of the road.

I know those tracks were in different countries etc, and they exist, but does anyone know of a local track that extends into a wooded area, or that's just generally beautiful? I like straightaways, but I would like to be able to keep going, even if it's not as fast as I can. I'm honestly not even looking to beat any times; just a nice legal cruise.

Lime Rock ...

interestingly enough my parents got to be on track twice this past weekend. Saturday they won some hot lap tickets so they where taken for a ride in the BMW pace car, they hit 120.

Sunday they got to drive their mustang around the track at low speeds with a large group of mustangs.

Jealous...and secondly, Lime Rock recently repaved the entire course with new turns after the rear stretch and an updated turn on the west corner which is wicked. But idk about track time for non-members who aren't in a club. When i was there for the Skip Barber Racing School(What you really need to try) they explained to become a member it was 100g's and then 500 a month that you raced. Now thats just wayyyyy to much. Other then that track however, i don't know of anything that is under 8 hrs from you...Then its off to New York and either Monticello, Watkins glen,or Syracuse..And even then i have no idea if they even let the public on...

groups use to be able to rent the track out. maybe join a group that gets track time there?

Well, I just contacted Lime Rock; that's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. I left a message for the operations manager, Scott. The other person I spoke to explained to me that I could either join a club and become a licensed track-driver, or rent the track for a day. I'm willing to bet the cost of renting would be in the thousands, but we shall find out!

there is supposed to be a track opening up in palmer mass, palmer motorsports park but i haven't seen anything new about it in over a year
