Wtb: A New Back!
I swear, just when things start getting better... BAM!
![]() I have missed a few days of work this past week because Dawn ended up in the hospital Tuesday night for about 6 hours to receive medical attention for a kidney stone that was a bit too unbearable to deal with... It has passed through the kidney, but isn't out of the bladder yet, so she still has pain, just not as much as Monday-Tuesday!!! ... Anyway, I am all ready to work July 4th, get called in 4 hours early, too, and I'm like: "Yes 4 hours overtime pay, plus double time for 8 hours Holiday pay, SWEET!" and it would help make up for the few days I missed... Great, right? Until I am at work, about 3:30pm (an hour and a half into the overtime), I am taking a strap off of a trailer, so i lean down to unhook the tension, pull part of the strap back, and I start to stand up straight......... Yeah, that wasn't happening!!! I kept pacing around hunched over, trying to stretch it out and see if I could "walk it off"... didn't work! So I climb back up onto my fork-lift, drive around for a while and continue to do work that wouldn't need me to get up and down from the lift... 6pm now, break time, and I am DONE! Just can't walk comfortably at all, can't stand straight and having a rough time breathing deep...So, I see a few members of our ERT team, who suggest that I go home and rest, supervisors agree, and I end up having to fill out paperwork for on-the-job-injury (been there a few times before! ), and my friend drives me home in my car...I am so SICK of my back hurting me! I have been using all kinds of stretches, light work outs, all doctor recommended stuff, and just can't catch a break! My knee is finally getting better, and then the back goes out! If Dawn isn't in pain, I AM! Just so frustrated at this situation... I am hoping a days rest and some stretching will get me through work tomorrow, and then I can be back to normal by Monday... I have a 3L swap I HAVE to do, cause i could use the cash... plus next week I have quite a few jobs lined up as well.... and All I want to do is work my 40 hours a week at USPS, so i can finally see a full paycheck for once!!! Sorry for that, but I know most of you know what is going on with my back, and I REALLY needed to vent!!! ![]()

Re: Wtb: A New Back!
are you a hefty man?
I used to be about 5'8" and 255 lbs and I had some back problems myself (and i'm only 18) and I picked up surfing, lost about 60 pounds and haven't had a problem with it since then! I think you just need to find something that really moves your spine around, those simple little stretches the doctor gave me never did anything for me either ![]()

Re: Wtb: A New Back!
Sorry to hear about your back. I have a back condition called kyphosis that can be really painful for me sometimes, but mostly when I don't do anything, the only thing that seems to relieve the pain are strengthening exercises.
I never take anything from the customers unless they have a legitimate reason, but then again I don't work in customer service anymore. |

![]() you probably have whats called an excess kyphosis, (too much curve) which could affect you. Aircougar, Im terribly sorry to hear about your back problem... And since im pretty sure i could be considered an expert on the subject I would recommend you go see a good chiropractor. Since you already said that you filled out an on the job injury form, i would check and see if your company will cover chiropractic care for your injury. Sometimes you may be able to see the chiropractor of your choice, get all the bills and your company may pay for it as long the the clinic provide you with proper paperwork. This is where it gets tricky... some company will let you only see certain chiropractors or not at all, which severely limits your choices... And im first to tell you that not all chiropractors are the same. Avoid places like "accident and injury clinic". They are only there to drain your insurance money. Small clinic with minimum advertising could be an indicator of a good clinic. And as far as your back goes, it sounds like you have a bit of a disc problem. 1. when you go to the bathroom, is it painful? 2. when you cough, is it painful? 3. put your thumb in your mouth and blow hard against it without letting the air out... when you do this, is it painful? if you answered yes to all three, you probably have a disc problem. If you go see a chiropractor now, you should be back to almost normal within 2 weeks. With continued care, you shouldnt be so acute in the future. In the meantime, you can ice the area where you have the problem 20 minutes on, hour off, and then 20 minutes, up to 3 times per day. You should also do 800 mg of ibuprofen (400 in the morning and 400 in the evening) to keep the inflammation down. Any kind of back exercises at this point will be detrimental to your current condition so dont try to "walk it out". If you have any questions i would be happy to help.

Re: Wtb: A New Back!
If they won't allow him to see a chiropracter, I think they would at least let him get some physical therapy. Some PCP's and health insurances are against chiropractic, but a lot of them are coming around these days.
I wouldn't say Greg is a hefty man, but he is tall and has a pretty long torso. Good luck Greg. Definitely get some kind of help for that back. Sorry to hear about Dawn too. Tell that woman to lay off the tea, dang! lol

Greg is like a 7" shorter version of Kevin Garnett but white.
he's ahd this problem for a while and just like with everythign he does, he is very educated on the subject. personally i don't know what he's done by way of chiropractors (i remember talking to him about it, but not what he said) BTW, Rich, when i do number 3 my fist gets bigger also, rich (MOMO) is a chiropractor, for those of you who don't know. he's so kickass he went over to craotia and is da man over there for back problems
