Re: Believe it!

Today I Fixed most of the rear bumper, but still have to make a panel to fit into the spots for the License plate lights because the holes were cut too big...
The Front bumper fits horrible on the side where they meet to the fenders! Its going to have to be sanded down on one side, and built up a little with a little bit of filelr on the other to get it to look smooth. There sn't enough material on the ends near the fenders to make holes that actually bolt to the fenders, so I had to make a plate with 4 holes on each plate, 2 to mount for the fender, and 2 to rivet to the bumper! WHAT A PITA! Still have to modify them a bit more...

Headlights and WW grill went in perfect! Only had to cut each side once, and swap a few of the headlight brackets around, and those fit perfect!

The hood isn't bolted down, or latced down... for some reason the latch isn't grabbing tight, so I have to take a look at that tomorrow...

Fenders came out GREAT! if I must say so myself! I was able to cut off a LOT less on the inside where the door hinges are, and now these fenders are much stiffer/rigid than my old stock ones that I hacked way too much inner material out of! I really think the doors are going to work much better this time around, and I just need to get the grease fittings, and add 2 small things to the hinges for stoppers to keep the door from opening out too far, or not enough...

The sidemarkers don't fit too well, either. they snap in, but push more to one side of the fender hole than the other, so a small piece of metal will need to be put in there to help align them correctly...

and SAMI, the quarter window rubber trim WILL NOT come off of my windows!
They are adhesived in with the windows, so I would have to pull everything out... I am still up in the air about pulling them off, yet.

Thanks Josh for hanging out with me today and giving me a hand when I needed it! I appreciate it buddy! and thanks for bringing up the exhaust too!

Tomorrow is my Mom's birthday, but hopefully I will have some time to at least fix a few small things. Finish up the door hinge alignment and function, drill out a few broken fender bolts!, take another look at the front bumper, and cut out the second exhaust hole in the rear bumper...

More pics as things progress!

Re: Believe it!

it does exist

thats some great work and progress there, sorry I wasn't around to help out yesterday. Plus side is the imrc controller was good so that problem is solved and my dad and I got the oil lines made up and installed in my car. Now to figure out why the transmission is leaking oil and why sometimes the clutch seems to grab low or high ...

not to thread jack......what did u use to seal the trans halves together? TH said if u used something other than the red gasket maker that it will leak...mine is so i need to pull mine and reseal it

-> Greg...........
is that a cougar there....i thought u just worked on CSVT and other peoples cougars......

awesome work man, she is going to look awesome. good choice on the WW grill with the 01-02 lights...thats going to look hawt.

i got a couple questions, are u painting the headlights black, laser red or keep stock? and u ever thought of getting the grill wrapped by topshop? another question about ur hood since its giving you issues, why not have it open from the front like kenny's old one?

I didn't mean to thread jack either ... TH sealed the mtx ... but I did change shift towers and we used black gasket maker. I have to swap it again after TH keys my shift tower so I will have to check that and see it that is the cause. But it seemed to me to be collecting on the bottom, not the top. although the fluid was coming off the case and onto the subframe. Plus this weekend was the longest highway drive since everything was installed. Everything before that had been local, although for the same amount of time.

Re: Believe it!

re: the hood: Check the hood bumpers (or whatever those little rubber things behind the headlights are).

ElKy had this problem when he got his CF hood at Spring Zing. It would not close because those bumper things were set too high - he twisted them to be a little lower and the hood closed great.
