Re: Where to start?
Hopefully if I see you, it's not under any circumstances like that.

Re: Where to start?
*Sigh*
Well I have a slight problem.. Unfortunatly I like to wake up EXTREMELY early in the morning to go to the gym and as I was pulling up into the parking spot I pulled my front end over the curb. Sorry to say that it wasn't my first time so I wasnt to worried I just knocked it into reverse and backed up a little bit so I wouldn't be over the curb. I heard the usual nasty scraping noise... When I left the gym I backed out and when I started to drive forward I heard a loud scraping sound and I felt like I rolled over something. [tried to put a pic here but it didn't work guess this is different from the other forum i was on ill have the pic up in a few] That's what I heard scraping on the asphalt and when I drove forward I drove over it. I had to back up to get it from under the car. And since I was sp far from my house and I had nothing to tie it up or anything to keep it from scraping I had to tear it off... Now i am at my bf's shop checking out the damage on the lift and it looks like there is a lot just from bumping up on the curb. My front bumper looks like it wants to come off its kinda shaky and loose... [tried to put a pic here but it didn't work guess this is different from the other forum i was on ill have the pic up in a few] This is the whole car on the lift you can't really see too much of the damage from the side but you can see the crack on the front lip. [tried to put a pic here but it didn't work guess this is different from the other forum i was on ill have the pic up in a few] I know this looks REALLY bad but if it makes it any better I didnt do all of the damage. The lip was half way destroyed when I bought the car.. And yeah my fingers are all in the pic... [tried to put a pic here but it didn't work guess this is different from the other forum i was on ill have the pic up in a few] I don't know if you can see it but the bumper is almost completely seperated. Sorry all I have available to me right now is a camera phone... So what do I do replace the whole front end? ![]() |

Re: Where to start?
If it's the stock bumper cover, you can pick them up for around $300 new (call Bill Jenkins - username TeamFord on here), or if you watch the for sale forums you can occasionally score one for about $100. The former will have to be painted (expect about $300 for that), the latter might have to be painted depending on what color you get.
Sorry to hear about it. I have waaay too much experience damaging bumpers on my Cougar. ![]()

Re: Where to start?
Sounds painful.
![]() Check around local junkyards to find a bumper too. But, unfortunately most of the cougars in there have front end damage. Still worth a try though.

Re: Where to start?
I'm pretty late to this thread, sorry that my welcome to the forums isn't at a happier time :-\
But like Tigg said, you might be able to find a bumper in a junkyard. I'm not sure that particular yellow color carried through all four years of the cougar, but maybe you could find an 01-02 bumper if you can't find a 99-00. It would bolt up like stock.

Re: Where to start?
I know that the fog lights are different, so she'd need those as well. That's going to quickly get more expensive.

Re: Where to start?
True, but fog lights can be lived without for a while if its necessary to get a new bumper. If she doesn't already have fog lights, then its even easier.

Re: Where to start?
Definitely still worth mentioning as an option anyway though.
