rear control arm

Woooow finally figured out what was chewing up my back drivers side tire. It just got real bad in last month and ate up a tire in that time. So I stuck nose alllll up under the car and found the Front Lower Control Arm twisted where it was hard to see (guessing its been getting more tweaked by bumps) with a nasty bend in it.

Now I was thinking hmm 3 bolts in the while thing this can't be hard to do. Annnnnd Theeeeeeeen...... The beaaaautiful people at ford decided that one of the bolts should hit the gas tank before it comes out (could have put the nut on that side and been way easier) Instead you have to drop (I think its called)the whole subframe back there!!!!!!! Not fun....

Re: rear control arm

And you have to drop the front subframe to change the driver's side front control arm. I love Ford engineers

If I had another bolt at the time that is probably what would have happened. Why they didn't just put the nut on that side i will never know

Re: rear control arm

I would just cut it and replace every bolt you take out with a grade 8 bolt and a lock nut.

Re: rear control arm

Even putting in the bolt the correct way does not require removal of subframe. Why? Because I didn't. All you have to do is jack up the powertrain with a floor jack and pry it apart a little with a prybar.
