    Re: Anxiety disorder

Andy has a good point too, when I was on practicum I was driving 10+ hours a week plus working 64 hours a week. I had no time to workout like usual, my stress went up, appetite wend down, and the food I did eat was basically crap.

Now I'm back in the gym, still working lots, not driving on the highway and feel great, with 0 stress.

Maybe your taking too much on your plate? anyway to decrease your workload as well as a normal routine exercise plan? Eating healthy can also help, avoiding things like coffee. smoking, etc (all the bad stuff).

Yeah I've quit smoking and switched to tea so it's actually helped a bit, I was able to eat toast this morning but nothing really after that till like 7 pm :/ I think the biggest issue is that i broke my bike and thats how i would commute to school, and so that was a sort of work out i'd do every day thats outta my life. Maybe I'll start getting up early and walking to school?

    Re: Anxiety disorder

I had severe anxiety back in high school. I went to a psycologist, they prescribed me bosbar. I quit taking them after the first time cause they made me twitch. But, the doctor told me when I feel it coming on, do something to take your mind off of it, or think of a past time that made you happy. I get it every once in a while, but I ignore it now and it goes away on it's own. Mind over body.

Since I was able to stuff my gullet tonight for the first time in a while, i went for a nice run until i couldn't run anymore and it felt amazing. I think the exercising really does help, lets you release that primal instinct.... Guess i'll have to wait and see how i feel in the morning though before i dismiss it entirely though

If you have a lot of stress and you're having issues coping, seeing a therapist or counselor is probably a lot better for you than chowing down anti-anxiety meds prescribed by the doctor.

Think of it this way- if you keep losing engine coolant and you know it's because the radiator is bad, should you just keep topping off the reservoir, or should you go for the actual problem itself?

Don't band-aid it, go for the root cause.

+1. Very good advice! It's like any fear too, you have to face it head on.

My suggestion to Anxiety is finding something I enjoy doing. I personally can't sleep if I haven't done something to stretch my mind, like a puzzle or game of some sort. My Blackberry is filled so I can fall asleep happy haha.

Hey I know im really late on this, but I know anxiety can be very crippling.

Check out The Anxiety Network International Home Page, and perhaps as a solution look into cognitive behavioral therapy. Goes on the assumption of "mind over matter."

    Re: Anxiety disorder

Thought I'd check back in on this....
The medicine is working, but i'm taking a very small half dose, .25 mg... and i totally understand, i'm not a person for meds, but it was spiraling out of control and i needed a quick fix to get myself under control so i could concentrate on my finals. Once the week is over, i'm supposed to go back to the doc and i'll share my experiences and such. I'll probably ask him to suggest a therapist as well, since i do have stress and anxiety issues regularly but its never been tough at all to deal with them.
