Rant: My job sucks gooch hair

First off, it's a job, not a career. I work at a fast food franchise called Backyard Burgers, the food is great and everything about us is quality, except for our management. As a part time employee I don't expect a huge wage, good hours, or a steady schedule, what I do expect is respect. Now our customers are great, I take care of everyone. I make it so new customers comeback and returning customers know me. I do my job, I cover for other people when they can't work. I love to work.

Well, we recently hired 3 new managers, all three of them have 5+ year of experiance, all of them are fairly nice people, only 2 of them can manage. All three of them smoke, 2 of them wait until their designated break time, or after thier shift, the other one goes when ever. Shes the same manager that will yell at me in front of customers when she comes back from smoking when I didn't cover for her.

The last three days have been bad between us. All I want to do is work, so its what I do, she comes in and yells at me for BS, well today I snapped. I had just completely cleaned the dining room, went a step further and cleaned the employee closet. When I was cleaning the closet I found a shirt that I left in there years back. I sat my shirt aside and finished my job. Once I was done cleaning my shirt I took it to my car, this literally takes me 1.5 minutes. As soon as I come back in the store (there were no customers in side) she tells me to clock out. I kindly asked why I needed to, after all, I wasn't off for another 20 minutes, and I do have bills to pay. She told me I wasn't doing anything, this is when I lost it. I told her to go find something wrong with the dining room told her to look at the closet, told her I do more work than she does. I guess this rattled her cage a little so she YELLS at me telling me that shes doesn't care and I need to leave. I turned and told her in a stern voice that she need not schedule me when she is working because we obviously don't get along and she has control issues that I won't tolerate.

I clocked out and grabbed my laptop, went to sit in my said clean dining room where I am writing this rant less than 20ft away from my power hungry manager.

Can you talk to one of the other two managers about her? Chances are, they've already seen it

Yeah, i used to work for a Wendy's franchise and my managers were all on crack. Some people just shouldn't have power because they can't seem to use it without abusing it. Just one of the facts of being lower than management. Just make sure you make good friends with the other two managers and you'll be HER manager. Then you can tell her off all you want but the other two will never fire you! (unless she's the GM) That's what i did

Ya know, I use to work for Wendy's and my manager really was on crack it actually worked out well cause she stayed in the cut so we wouldn't rat on her.

Anyways, that sucks man cause I know exactly that feeling when you know you're doing everything right and still someone is riding you just because they can. Best of luck to ya with your situation and hope it works out. Good story though hahaha

sorry to hear about your situation man, hopefully it will turn out better for you in the future, but i must say i do like backyard burgers much nicer than your average burger place.
