Need some help...Navy/Air Force members

It looks like my next music video is booked......

I got asked to put a budget together for Egypt Central's new video for "Home". They want to make this a military tribute video, and they want to have their performance set filmed on an aircraft carrier

My questions....

1. Where is the closest aircraft carrier to me? I'd guess maybe Chesapeake Bay?

2. How the **** do I go about getting permission to shoot a rock music video on an aircraft carrier? I'm assuming there will be a lot of paperwork, permits, etc to be filled out. Anyone have any clue about this, or even where to start?

At this point I just need to find out if it's possible, where it would be possible, and what the associated costs will be for permits, etc.

From PA, the closest home port is Norfolk, VA.

You could try the Intrepid in NYC.......I believe you can rent parts of the ship including the flight deck, but they are renovating with a projected re-opening date in November.....probably too late for your needs.

I don't know when they want to have it shot by...we haven't gotten that far along yet, but something like that might be exactly what I need!

Um...I don't remember that one, but I think Cher did one a long time ago. Regardless, with the budgets either of those would have had, they probably just BOUGHT an aircraft carrier...LOL.

I just did some googlin'.
It was the music video for Honey, and after skimming through it, I think it was just a set made to look like a ship.

I bet some clever use of a green screen in a parking lot and stock footage of carriers might work. You could shoot some plates on a tour of one.

They do indeed rent out the full Flight Deck, and you may want to look into this, they are doing renovations at staten Island IIRC and the flight deck may be empty/usable since they are using the hanger deck to renovate the planes and most of the renovations are within the ship itself. Just a thought

The ship moves back to Manhatten the beginning of October so all work should be done by then.
