the playground at my school was SO DANGEROUS. it was friggn awesome. now, just like the article says...molded plastic and safety angles. kids these days have no idea how to be daring.

ya I know, its called common sense.

my dad use to do alot of design work for large playgrounds [civil engineer]. I asked him not that long ago if any of them were still around [these were all those massive wood structures of the 80's, some of them 3 full stories tall, massive]... nope, not a single one.

There was an auction at one of the mcdonalds by my house a few years ago that I meant to attend, accidently slept in. anyways the hamburgler playset thing when for a whopping 20 bucks. sigh.

Man if I could count the amount of bruises and injuries that I had as a kid from those old playgrounds....they never phased you either, just get up and keep going. We had one with a diamond plate floor, that felt awesome when you fell on it, I whacked my shin on the end of it once... I think it still hurts!!!

Right by my house was this wooden playground... and by playground I mean CASTLE

This thing was a beast. Every peice of equipment you could imagine. The place was huge.

I found out that about five months ago they tore it down, its now classified as a Superfunds site

That spaceship rocks! I want one!

I remember in elementary school playground there was this huge pyramid made from tires. And there was actually a second level on the inside of it. I also remember huge chunks of salt laying on the ground all the time from when they would throw salt out during the winter.
