Obama disowns critique of McCain's military record -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

i have great respect for wesley clark, always have, and always will, but I don't particularly care for his comments about mccain's military service, even if i don't necessarily disagree with them. the guy was a pow who endured torture, he deserves nothing less than our gratitude and respect and he sure as hell deserves a pass on a critique of his military record when his opponent didn't even serve in the first place.

. . . uh, WHAT?

He makes his service record a strong part of his platform. He gets no pass on that, unless Obama gets to pick something that he gets a "pass" on. Jesus, thats the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of.

i find it highly unfair and unjustified for a candidate who didnt serve in the military to pick through and attempt to criticize the military record of a distinguished veteran and ex pow. in any event, mccain has been in politics for years, while the little i know about his record isnt particularly exciting (his family name surely helped with is promotions), if there was anything crazy in his file (think john kerryish) it most likely would have surfaced by now.

anyway, if you read the news article i posted, obama is clearing distancing himself from gen. clarks statements and it doesn't appear that he is going to attempt to go down that road, nor do i believe he should.

Re: wtf: wesley clark

how hes talking about mcain being untested and untried in basically his military career saying he cant understand risk, policy making, gauging the enemy forces, and being held acountable. what does a squadron leader do? what has obama doing/ done?

just cant wait for the darn elections to be over with so we dont have to hear about it again, well for atleast 2 years when every1 going to say the made the wrong choice for president again...

Well then I guess we owe it to black people and give them a chance to run the country then. Right?

I do believe we still owe them a couple mules and 40 acres.

there is plenty else to criticize the man for... being a former military officer and ex pow doesn't quite seem like one to me, personally.

and i'm voting for the black guy, mules or not!

There is literally blood squirting out of my eyeballs from the sheer magnitude of obtuseness your statement contains there. Hey, let me ask you this, who's decided that he is a "distinguished veteran"? The Republican Party right? The same Republican Party that falsified intelligence information about the scope of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program in order to stir up support for the invasion of Iraq, right?

Yeah, they should TOTALLY be taken at their word.

no, i believe the 5 1/2 years he served as a pow, the 17 miilitary awards and decorations he received, and the permanent disability he incurred because of it did that all by themself. love him or hate him, the guy went through things that you and I couldn't imagine, held his head high, and made our country proud. he earned that respect regardless of which political party you support.

with all that being said, i don't care for the man or his policies, and i wouldnt ever consider voting for him. i just think the guy deserves some respect for his sacrifices.
