MOMO the simple answer if they didnt let the UN inspectors in. They did get attacked. They might have still been attacked had they let the inspectors in, However i think it would have been rather hard to get everyone to concent to invading Iraq if they were following the rules. We cant go back and see because it allready happened this way so you cant tell me that it is intirely untrue. I find it hard that anyone would support war on a country that isnt acting like their hiding something.

BTW...MOMO are you in the armed forces ? I sometimes think you are and sometimes have no idea.

Rich, you're one of the few self-described Republicans I not only respect but genuinely like. But I think you're being a bit naive about the current reality.

You say "Cheney does not a Republican party make. He's a neo con." Your point about his neo-conservatism is an excellent one, but the actions of what currently constitutes the Republican Party simply do not mesh with the traditional platform the party espouses, in particular the actions by the leaders of the party, the current presidential administration.

To put it simply, the Republican Party 2008 is not what the Republican Party used to be in vision and ideals. You can wax poetic about what the "true" Republican Party is and represents until you're blue in the face and Ronald Reagan rises from the dead, but that doesn't change what the current Republican Party actually is.

point i was trying to make was that with the advent of "neo cons", The GOP took a big dive that im sure will be almost impossible to recover from.

When Bush jr was running for president way back when, he actually said, "very limited foreign policy". Look at us now. We have the biggest foreign policy which is partly responsible (hell, it is responsible) for the economic mess and crashing dollars now.

Point is, when i see this video, it actually doesnt represent me and other republicans who thinks like me... it really represents neo cons power grab thats going on right now.

I was in the Army right after HS... man, that was long ago.

But Iraq kicking out WI did not start this war. Collin Powell going on U.N. Security council and presenting fabricated "evidence" started this war.
I really dont want to get into it but if you do a quick search, there is ton of info on this. (you can find this stuff on main stream media...not the fringe conspiracy theory wacko website.)

It seems like he was stating that the economic sanctions placed on iran for doing things we didnt like werent working..Which i believe they werent, Then he goes on to say that they are really only hurting US buisnesses. I get his point do something about the problem...not useless sanctions. Makes sence.

At the time, he was the CEO of Halliburton. He said that everyone else gets to profit except for US business, so US business should be allowed to profit too. Of course he didn't care WHY we had sanctions against them, and tried to "explain it away" as being ineffective, but really what he said was "ineffective because it only prevents US businesses from doing business with them". Isn't that the ****ing point? Not to cripple them, but to say "You're not nice, so we aren't going to play with you anymore."

Im not a big fan of Iran developing nuclear weapons. If they were as interested in Energy solutions they would have taken a helping hand from one of the many countries who offered to help them develope them.

You know, the majority of the world isn't a big fan of the US developing nuclear weapons. Except we developed them anyway. Why?

Because who the **** are they to tell us what we can and can't do with our own country?.

So, if other people can't tell us what to do with our country, who the **** are we to tell other people what they can and can't do with their country?

This happened befor 911 and the Iraq war which was also befor we knew for sure that they were supporting militants in Iraq. Dont mess up the time line please. Anyways i can see him still wanting to lax sanctions befor 911 and the Iraq war based off the fact that sanctions were worthless. And that the United States was the only company not allowed to do buisness there under the sanctions.

Right. Before 9/11, we had no excuse to attack any middle eastern countries, so the best way for him to ensure Halliburton profited was to relax sanctions. Post 9/11, it was easy to endorse attacking the middle east, so that makes it easier to get profits for Halliburton. Why go the hard route when you can take the easier one?

Cheny hasnt been beating any wardrum he just wanted sanctions lifted if the US wasnt willing to do anything productive about the problems we had with their government.

I dunno, looks like a war drum to me.

And my favorite topic of all to reply to. Its amazing how short sighted most Democrats are. I mean they forget that their party is also heavily involved in Racism and they also forget that After 911 in which terrorists attacked the US. Iraq also stood up and stopped letting UN weapon inspectors into its country. Violating the treaty placed on it after the first gulf war. If they didnt want to be attacked a simple solution would have been to just let the inspectors in.
