So, here's the deal...my 500 gig is definitely ****ed...i confirmed it by removing the drive from the external enclosure and hooking it to my computer directly to the motherboard. It still makes some not so good sounds. It's now a paper weight...

I did the same with my 1tb drive and my computer will read it, but it says the data is corrupt. It can be formatted but i'll still loose all the data on it...luckily it wasn't much.

I've decided from now on i'm going to burn the series to dvd once i finish watching it. I'm not going to convert the files so they can be used in a dvd player. That was too much a hassle. I don't mind watching on my computer (hooray for 24" widescreen monitors!). The only problem is i can't currently hook up my dvd burner in my computer. All the IDE ports are used. So i'm either going to have to unhook my cd-rom to use the dvd drive, get a card with more ide ports, or get a new dvd drive with a different style data port (sata?). My only option for the moment is the first since i have no money to spend on stuff like that. Now all i need to do is redownload everything...oh this is going to take forever...

On another note, i have a feeling Lelouch's plan isn't going to go over as well as he'd hoped.

V.V...yeah, that surprised me as well. I was not expecting that twist. And to be honest, i don't completely understand it yet as well.

That's what i'll end up doing. I'm just lazy and don't want to turn my computer off just to switch out the drives. That, and i don't have anything to burn to a disc just yet. I haven't even started downloading the series i had saved. First, i need to make a list of what i had. I can remember a decent number of what i had, but others i'll find out by looking through this thread and a few other places.

Just turn it off. unscrew it and put the burner in..Its a 5 minute job if that You lose nothing and gain the ability to burn. Then you go from there

Yes that confused me as well. My daughter just started on the first season last week. So hopefully she'll be caught up in about 2 to 3 weeks..School started today. lol.
