Re: Anime Thread

I have Akira. I'll check out X/1999.

Blue Seed was boring I just finished watching it and dumped it again..lol. Blood+ is the bomb though.

Thanks guys. I may be off in my years. How did you search the action channel playing schedules? It was either 2002 or 2003.

edit: It IS X/1999! Awesome movie! Thanks Dane!

*adds another anime to the list*

Blue seed wasn't bad. The girl's panties getting flashed did get annoying after a while. I just wish they would of gone into better detail on the back story and what the deal was with the blue seed things (the name of them slips my mind...).

Re: Anime Thread

Blue Seed was too soap opera-ish to me. IMO they didn't introduce new things a easy to understand manner. Flashbacks were unclear, and just seemed like it fumbled along.

I just finished watching Cowboy Bebop again.

Re: Anime Thread

Jesus man...
You go through anime series like i go through underwear...

Anyways, i need help.
When looking to d/l new series i usually look for .avi format. To me it's the easiest to deal with even though it's not always the best quality and usually the subs are hard subs with this format. Unfortunately it's not always easy to find them in .avi format. Most of the time i'll find it in .mkv or .ogm formats. Most of the time i'm forced to go with one or the other. The problem doesn't lie with being able to play the formats, it's with the optional subtitle playback with them. For instance, right now i'm about to d/l Inuyasha. And i can only seem to find them in .ogm or .mkv formats. Since 167 episodes and something like 4 movies takes a lot of gigs i don't want to d/l and find out i have to watch them in english. I don't mind it, but would rather watch them in japanese audio with subs. Instead of d/l'ing the whole 40 gig file i just d/l'ed the first episode. And for the life of me can't get the damn subs to show (i hate soft subs...). The file i have is an .ogm file with an .ssa file for each episode. From what i've been able to figure out the .ssa file has the subs on it. But Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic won't recognized the .ssa file and therefore won't play it. I found a player called VLC player that can recognize and play the .ssa file, but the subs look like **** imho. If there was a way to resize the font and make it smaller i wouldn't mind. Otherwise i find it annoying to try and read it. Even better if there was a program that would take the .ssa file and combine it with the video file and make it hard subbed so there wouldn't be a seperate file. What do you suggest?

Re: Anime Thread

Never mind...

I remembered that i had this same problem once before. And downloaded a file called VobSub. The other day i deleted it because i thought it wasn't something i needed...turns out it's what helped my WMP and MPC read the .ssa file and play the subs...dammit...

Re: Anime Thread

I haven't tried hard subbing. Actually I like the english audio in Inuyasha. It wasn't bad. I watch everything through VLC. As far as the subs go, you can try finding another sub file maybe? ssa or srt. My outlaw star, WIthch Hunter Robin and Cowboy Bebop are all in ogm. Its taking me longer to convert them to burn them..I'm lazy..

Re: Anime Thread

I don't particularly care for VLC. Just something about it that irks me. After i downloaded that VobSub the subs showed up in Windows Media Player just fine. So i started downloading the 40 gig file...this'll take a while...though i did find out more than half of the file is in .mkv format. I have no idea if those files will have subs in them or not. Guess i'll find out when i get to them...oh well. That's something else i hate about trying to find a torrent. They don't tell you at all what's in it. Sometimes it's a mystery whether or not there is subs in it or if they are even in english. There's been more than one occasion where i've downloaded something only to find out it was subbed in italian or french...

I gave up on burning to dvd's. For some reason i could never get the files to fit my tv screen. What i mean is the picture would always seem bigger than my tv and it would cut it off. It would be one thing if it was cutting off just the sides of the picture, but it's cutting off the top and bottom as well. And no matter what i did it wouldn't change. So now i'm just saving everything i download onto an external hard drive. I figure once i fill it i'll just buy another. I've only used up half of the 500 gigs that i currently have. The way i figure is by the time i get a new tv it'll have multiple inputs. Some of which i'll be able to hook my computer up to. So if i ever want to rewatch anything i can just watch it through my computer rather than messing with dvds.

Re: Anime Thread

Bleach comes back on the 9th i believe.

I finished watching Inuyasha...and now i'm pissed...When i watched the last episode i thought it was going to be the last episode. I knew they had a lot of loose ends to wrap up and figured that's why they ended with a double episode only to find out that they just stopped animating the series...WTF! Now i'm pissed cause i wanted to see them whip Naraku's ass finally! The movies gave me some refuge...but not enough. I couldn't finish watching the last movie, though. For some reason the audio and video won't stay in sync. For some reason the video keeps lagging. It annoyed the **** out of me so i stopped watching it. Haven't tried to watch it again yet.

I'm watching the Yu Yu Hakusho series again, but this time i'm watching it with the original Japanese audio. And i gotta say i almost prefer the dubbed version.

I downloaded the CCCP that Danef150 suggested and it came with a new player. It's called Zoom Player, and i absolutely ****ing love it. One feature i like is i don't have to keep going back and forth between windows and taking the picture out of fullscreen every time i want to go to the next episode. There is a button on the tool bar next to play, stop, etc that opens up the "open file" window. Or, and i just found this out, i can hit the next track button on my keyboard and it'll automatically go to the next file in the folder the previous file was in. It's so much better than Windows Media Player. And it plays all the formats, which is a bonus!

I also watched Metropolis last week. Wasn't at all what i was used to in traditional anime.
