    University of Illinois - Chicago

I'm strongly considering attending here in the fall. Anyone gone there, know anyone that's gone there, have any opinions about the school, the area, whatever?

    Any feedback would be faaaaaaantastic.

Yes thank you, I already live in the middle of a cow pasture, thats why UIUC and NIU are low on my list.

I'm just trying to get a feel for the area and whatnot. I have no doubt living in Chicago will be a big adjustment for me, but its one I'm willing to make to live a little. I think how sweet it could be to cut class and go catch an afternoon Cubs game or hit up Rush Street on the weekends or go catch a show at the House of Blues, whatever.

OK first off Thats a great campus. You have Greektown just a few blocks from there. In Greektown theres a few bars and cafes and a 24hour gyros shop. So Greektown is north of you. to the south is little Italy. you will have access to a bus going to the train where you can go to a Cubs game. Theres also a mechanic shop about 2 miles away that does excellent work on any car and is cheap. I'll get you the info on the shop later.

Ohhh and you will be close to the Loop which is real cool downtown is awsome. And a little more south of you is China town where alot of Rice burners can be found and midnight racing. Theres a tuner shop on Archer but the are not cool they don't know anything about cars whatsoever. But the reason I mention the shop is because the owner has a 2001 Nissan Skyline R43 GT-R. Bring a camera he details it everyday. Well thats it for now if you do decide to come to Chicago let me know.

I hate Charleston though Heather, there's nothing to do there.

I'll look a little more in to it, but my mind is pretty much made up. I do apprecite everyone's coments though.

I agree with Krystek, although I have never personally taken classes at UIC, I've had 4 friends transfer from my school to UIC, so I have a fair idea to make a comparison.
There is nothing "above and beyond" about the school and might be alittle lower on your value for your dollor compared to other area schools. Loyola will give you more bang for your buck. You may also wanna consider some of the Milwaukee area schools [although I would not fully recommend marquette, even though thats my school]

i'd say NIU... but only cuz its bad ass, the classes are smaller and the teachers speak english (well most of them)... i also hear that Loyola is a good school. Alot of my friends go to UIC and like it, though.... forget it im no help
