Operation Color Conversion -LED SWAP PICS AND GUIDE-

Good bye forever nasty green LED's... You have met your match

-I PROVIDE LED SWAPPING SERVICES... PLEASE MESSAGE ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE THIS DONE

-WADESPENCER99 NOW PROVIDES HVAC CLEARING SERVICES... PLEASE MESSAGE HIM IF YOU WANT THIS DONE AS WELL

COMPLETE GUIDE WRITTEN BY ME - 13 PAGES <----- LINK FIXED !!!!!!

Best for last:

musn't forget the props to GMK for the great trip and window switch tut

-the switches i did all at once since they are cake, prolly like an hour

-the overhead took about an hour from time taken down + adjustments

-the dimmer switch took about 45 minutes, had the resistor on the wrong side the first time and I had to rig the harness with a grounding terminal since mine wasn't equipped with one and therefore the light didnt work to begin with.

-the headlight control TOOK FOREVER, almost 6-7 hours, mainly caus it was late night work and I was tired and took my time...
The knob itself wasnt too hard, just busy work... you have to scrap away a bit of black plastic and its time consuming...
I fit 3 leds in it. Then had to cut down the inner white ring to accomodate the resistor and led leads... Next cut out a slot in the outter ring of the housing to pass the leads to some really small wiring since they are moving parts... then hot glued all the wires and such to give some durability and protect from shorts... then lastly cut a slot in the outter housing to accomodate 3 more led's to light up the face, some more hot glue and all done...

All in all wasnt too bad, gettting the dash apart was 100% easier than I thought... and all said prolly took about 9-10 hours over a week (im a stickler for perfection) and took my time...

TIPS

-For the headlight control, use a 400 grit sandpaper folded and wetsand with the edge of it (this might work on the HVAC)

-For all the switches, the easiest way to resolder a new led in there without worrying about gettin to the original leads.. clip the lead on the LED that crosses the resistor (when you clip there should be a lil X where the lead met the resistor wire (THIS IS THE EASY SIDE), then use a small screw driver to life the old led out, then clip the other lead as close to the old LED base as possible to give you as much old lead to work with... MAKES LIFE MUCH EASIER!!! Also, if your following GMK's tut, after you trim the posts that surround the LED and you seat the new LED in there, use a small screw driver to push it down into place... helps alot when your soldering and it doesnt move everywhere

-Get a protoboard/breadboard... these are relativly cheap and allows you to "built" circuits on it and kinda acts as an extra pair of hands lets say... these plus some aligator clips and you'll wonder how you ever did work without them...
Yes thats a computer I'm raping for 12V of sweet DC

-IF you have a vice, use it... I've got mine "pimped" with an asbestos plate I solder over

-Work in a decent area where you can actually do work

-DMM (Digital Multi Meter) 15$ @ radioshack... enough said

-LASTLY TAKE YOUR TIME... no need to get it all done in one pass, afterall, mistakes can be COSTLY (eg fordpartsonline)
