Seat Wiring Harness HELP

Oh god, so I took the plunge to swap my seats out and now I'm in a bit of a bind.

I'm swapping from a 2000 Seats with airbags and semi-power (only up/down are power) to seats from a 1999 without airbugs and full-power.

The problem is that my cars harness has six plugs and the 99 seats only have 4.

Gamiller, I know you've had experience with this before but all the threads I found were people swapping to a later year.

What should I also do about the yellow plugs since my new seats don't have the connectors for them?

Re: Seat Wiring Harness HELP

just put them in, it shouldnt matter as the seat power functions are interchangeable [I had full power in a set in my car for some time before reverting to something else]... although if you had airbags in the seats before, removing that will throw a airbag light. That portion I cant help you with but I think Ty was battling how to address that, might be worth asking him.

Re: Seat Wiring Harness HELP

Just match up the colors of the four and tie off the other too. You'll have to splice the wire together. I had to do that when I went from my 99's (cloth, full power) to my 35th anny (02's, leather, full power). Works perfect.

Re: Seat Wiring Harness HELP

I have the same problem with the airbag light. I just haven't had time to figure it out. The rest of the plugs should just plug in.

Re: Seat Wiring Harness HELP

the cleanest and cheapest option is to switch the plug that came with the seats to the plug from the seats you removed. that way you won't have to mod your factory harness.

to figure out which wire goes where, look at the diagram i posted in the other thread.

What other thread?

I'm in the middle of a similar swap. I might ry swapping over the entire Airbag system so that I have working side airbags and no flashing lights. BUt I would like to know how much of the system I need to move. Is it just the module under the seats or is it the entire airbag module under the dash that has to move as well.

Re: Seat Wiring Harness HELP

the airbag modules themselves I believe are different. AFAIKT [at least on the early 99s] that the stock wireharness is the same between cars with side airbags and those without. I guess the only way to prove it would to be to try an airbag module without the side airbags and if it turns off those warning lights [which I anticipate it does and that that is the only change required]
