Door Ajar Switch need help

hey how is everyone? new to the NECO. I was wondering if any body knows where i could find the switch to turn my dome lights on when the door opens the passenger side works but my drivers side doesnt. it has been a pain to find it. i am still use to the old fashion button where u can see. but so everyone knows it is not the open that turns on the dash light just the interior lights when the door opens. and also where i might be able to get the part from or how to take it out. and replace it. thanks so much. also i love the site i was looking for about a month for different sites for my 99 cougar and help. i plan to have it as my show car.

Re: Door Ajar Switch need help

well the sensor is not in the door but in the body, you'd need to take out the rear seat body panel which is pretty easy to do.

I dont know about replacements but you could always give Team Ford Parts a call [google them], or just swap it with the passenger side sensor.

I'll take a pic of the sensor for you tonight as I already have the car stripped.

Re: Door Ajar Switch need help

i had the same problem a few days ago. At the dealer is was like 65 bucks for a new sensor, which by the way you can just take off with out removing the rear quater panel. There are two largers bolts holding it on the door jam where. So i told them where to stick there 65 dollar sensor and went on the hunt. It really wasn't to hard, I had wrecked a ford focus a year before and it was still sitting in my fathers yard. and as it turns out the sensor for the ford focus is the same for the cougar. so you should be able to go to a bone yard and get one for a 2001 to 2002 ford focus.
here are some pics that might help to.
