I wish... I have too much to do this summer to go unfortunately.

Re: New paint for the dash

The neon green looks gross, IMHO, you did a good job on the painting, but that color has got to be hard on the eyes after driving in the day for a while. I'm gonna do the same on mine, only I'm going to match it to the factory dark green metallic, any pointers on getting it off w/o breaking it, and getting it back on w/o scratching the paint?

I kind of like it

I dont think its any worse on the eyes then any other bright color like yellow or red.

It must be hard to believe will all the people here who express how much they dislike it but I have gotten a lot of compliments over the years with mine. Its usually followed with a question of "why green" but if you paint it right and dont take short cuts it will look good.... and there will be people who like it

Re: New paint for the dash

Yeah, my g/f wants to go pink on a select few parts, and I know that that is about as bright as you get. Any pointers for getting the dash parts in/out?

Re: New paint for the dash

the best thing i can tell you about gettin the parts out is TAKE YOUR TIME!! there are two little tabs on the bottom of the piece where the AC knobs ore that the screws go through (these are now broken off of mine) and also on that piece its easierto tilt the steering wheel all the way down when taking it out.

as for not dinging it up let it dry for a long time, just dont rush things trying to get them back in to see how it will look.. i did that and there are a couple little dings here and there now that ill have to redo.. and especially if you are gonna clear coat the pieces (recommended) i'd let them dry overnight because there again, i have a fingerprint in one of the pieces just from holding it and the clear coat wasn't completely dry.

Re: New paint for the dash

Not sure if I missed it but what did you use for paint? I'd say use the Krylon Fusion thats made for plastic and wont chip. I used it on my A pillars and its awesome, I only waited an hour before installing them and nothing really happened to the paint, but now that its completely set I can scrape at it with my finger nail and it doesnt even leave a mark. The stuff is amazing, doesnt need a clear coat, and is available in a ton of colors.

Re: New paint for the dash

thats what i wanted but i couldn't find the color green i wanted..

now i dont even remember what brand it was.. it said it was made for plastic though thats the only reason i didn't wait to put it all back in and yeah.. it needs to be redone.. the spots that are messed up aren't that bad.. but it bugs the crap outta me..
