DIN Gauge Pod Fitment?
It is my understanding that the 99-00 Cougars has a 1.5 DIN radio opening and that the 01-02 Cougars have a Double DIN opening (info from Excelciers stickied Cougar Audio Overview found in Audio & Electrical Forum).
For some reason I don't think the 01-02 has a double DIN opening. I am planning on buying a 2001 Cougar, but want to know if I can fit a single DIN head unit with a single DIN Gauge Pod? I know some of you have put Double DIN LCD screens, so it must be possible. Is there any noticable modifications that need to be made? Has anyone used this before? Any pics you want to share? Heres a link to the pod installed in some other car: Universal Single Din Triple Radio Face Gauge Pod - GS-U03 Also a pic of the DIN Gauge Pod: |

Re: DIN Gauge Pod Fitment?
you mean such as this? this is in my 97 contour and i moved the radio to the lower DIN slot but it should basically be the same. i had to file the edges down some to make it fit (even then it was tough to get in) BrApple also installed one after he saw mine.

Re: DIN Gauge Pod Fitment?
now come on, are those many gauges necessary?
![]() as for the OP's question, i believe its possible, i don't remember where but there should be a mounting bracket somewhere, so you slide it in and it supports 2 din slots or something... not sure ![]() if i come across it again, i'll post it... |

Re: DIN Gauge Pod Fitment?
Are there any cougars that have this installed?
I want to know if it will fit without cutting the trim of the opening too much. I don't have any fiberglass molding experience what so ever either... So, the 01-02 Cougars have the same size (1.5 DIN) as the 99-00, correct? Last edited by Chromed CoUgaR; 03-18-2008 at 10:48 AM. |
