Interior FAQ's

Here is a thread dedicated to FAQ's related to interior questions, since there have been ALOT of repetitive questions lately.

Format:

Q: If I swap clusters will my mileage be the same?
A: No, the mileage is kept in the cluster itself and the car will show whatever mileage the car the cluster came out of. It is advised that the circuitry be swapped, to retain original mileage, from your cluster to the new cluster.

Q: Can I change the color of the interior backlighting?
A: All the window, lock, trip computer and trunk switches use 3mm LED's for their backlighting. With a little time and some decent soldering skills they can be changed to the color of your choice. For more information see here. The HVAC and headlight switches can be done by sanding/removing the green film from the back of the face. The PRND21 can be done as well, see here. The 4 button panel has 12 volt "special" leds and will have to be modified with an extra resistor to work. The stock radio can be done but is very complicated and requires the use of Surface Mount LED's which at the moment are not available in small quantities. See the How-To posted above for more information.

Add your own and I will move it to this section.

Re: Interior FAQ's

Guage Face Install
Change Door Switch Light Color
Cutting the short shifter
(or you can cut shorter and use a universal knob)

Q. How do I get the Passenger Vent Cover Off?
A. Just jam two screwdrivers under it at 5 and 7 oclock and pry it out, its only held on by 2 tabs.

Q. My Rear View Mirror Shakes Bad how do I fix it?
A. A) glue it in place (wont be able to move it), B) get an aftermarket one that wont shake as bad. C) Tear it off.

Q. When I get in my car there's a red blinking light near my rear defrost but i dont have an alarm?
A. Its for both a deterant for theives to show that you "have an alarm" and also because you have a chipped keys, the light goes out when the right key is used to start your car.

Q. What seats will bolt into my car?
A. Most seats that came out of cougars/contours will bolt up, some based on power options might need to be re-wired.
