RE:How to end the ATX 1-2 Bang Shift!!!
Cool, i have the "bang, shift" as well. And, frankly, it's annoying. I'll definately be doing this. Thanks for the heads up about this solution!

I'd call mine more of a 2-3 bang shift... I get into it and let it shift into second then let off and it slams into 3rd. ? Not violently, but very noticeable... ![]()

RE:How to end the ATX 1-2 Bang Shift!!!
HELP!!!!!
Im having a similar problem. It only happens when I go on the highway and get off. if I stop and then go it will make a bang when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear(nothing to do with breaking). The banging will go away if I park and shut off the engine for a few seconds. My engine light is also on. Anyone with any advise. Thanx 99 cougar v6 atx ![]() |

RE:How To: End the ATX 1-2 Bang Shift!!!
I've had my 99 Cougar since it was new and have put up with this the unusual sensation of the 1-2 bang shift. I always look in the rear view mirror to see who hit me and no one is there. I looked at the pretty pictures in the "How to" and thought, I can do that. I got the part in the mail yesterday and installed it today. Now when I feel that unusual sensation it will really be someone hitting me in the rear.
Thanks for the "How to" and everyone's feedback on the details.
