RE:How to end the ATX 1-2 Bang Shift!!!

Cool, i have the "bang, shift" as well. And, frankly, it's annoying. I'll definately be doing this. Thanks for the heads up about this solution!

Did it help???

I'd call mine more of a 2-3 bang shift... I get into it and let it shift into second then let off and it slams into 3rd. ? Not violently, but very noticeable...

RE:How to end the ATX 1-2 Bang Shift!!!

HELP!!!!!

Im having a similar problem. It only happens when I go on the highway and get off. if I stop and then go it will make a bang when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear(nothing to do with breaking). The banging will go away if I park and shut off the engine for a few seconds. My engine light is also on. Anyone with any advise.

Thanx

RE:How To: End the ATX 1-2 Bang Shift!!!

I've had my 99 Cougar since it was new and have put up with this the unusual sensation of the 1-2 bang shift. I always look in the rear view mirror to see who hit me and no one is there. I looked at the pretty pictures in the "How to" and thought, I can do that. I got the part in the mail yesterday and installed it today. Now when I feel that unusual sensation it will really be someone hitting me in the rear.

Thanks for the "How to" and everyone's feedback on the details.
