New Indiglo Gauges - Needles Sticking

Ok - I installed my new Indiglo gauges from Cardoc at Speedpeople this weekend. However, my needles are sticking and therefore not accurate. I figured this might kind of "go-away" but it hasn't. My speedometer will say I'm doing 55mph when I'm really doing 80mph (I have the car in diagnostic mode)! Plus, my fuel tank needle is sticking pretty badly also.

Cardoc, if you're out there, can you pease tell me how to get around this? If anyone else has a method for solving this - preferably without disassembling the whole dash and cluster again - I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

1) fill your gas tank
2) disassemble cluster
3) remove needles
4) disconnect & reconnect battery
5) turn key on and then off and on again
6) the cluster will calibrate itself
7) install gas needle and temp needle with key on
8) turn key off
9) install speedo and tach needles
10) test drive and confirm accuracey
11) put cluster back together

Craig, good tips.

Also remeber to not push the needles down so close to the gauge face. I did this and mine stuck as well. What I did was pull them up off the gauge face and turn the lights on. Underneath the needle a round glow of light would appear I just pulled up or pushed down the needles until the round circles were even.

Not the fault of the gauge face just the install, don't worry its not a hard fix just time consuming.

I thought the whole idea of these slip-on gauges was you wouldn't have to remove the needles and do all of that calibration?!

Additionally, I don't think removing the needles and doing all the calibration will solve my problem - I never removed the needles in the first place. It's not that the needles are out of calibration, it's that they are getting stuck on the new gauge face material, so they can't get to the proper position. For instance, as I accelerate, my needle goes to about 10 and sticks. It jumps again to about 45 when I hit 45mph and sticks. And not until I hit 55mph does the needle move from 45. The needle sticks at 55 until I reach about 75-80mph, where it jumps to the proper position.

Thanks to StreetConcepts and Kinger for the how-to, but I think that's more for replacement gauges that require removing the needles and stock gauges. I know a number of you out there bought these Indiglo gauges and have installed them - am I the only one having this issue?!

Yeah I'm having the same problem with mine also. I've been driving with my lights on so that it would help flatten out the new gauges. They're supposed to "settle" after a while but still haven't.

Same here, I just think that you and I will have to pull the needles out just a bit further to accomodate the thickness of the overlay gauges. I had mine between two phonebooks for over a week to flatten them out after shipping. Mine sticks at 80mph and at 5000rpm but the other two needles don't stick. Hope that helps.

how did you adhere your gauges to your cluster? i had mine in the box until a few minutes before install. my needles stick, mainly cuz i think the lil loops of tape aren't holding down the gauges like i thought they would. hehe. whoops.

i'd give it some driving. diagnostic mode is cooler anyways. but yeah, it's a hassle. just give it time.

I had the needles stick on my gauges as well on the first try. I found it difficult to get the indiglos on without removing the needles (too much stress on the indiglo gauges around the holes). Simply use 2 spoons and pry them underneath the needles to pull them out a little. You can pull them out quite a bit before they actually come off the post. Problem solved!

The needles stick right a=round the holes. I had the same problem and had mine apart 3 times now. You may have to do a little bit of light filing around the holes where the needles go through. I filed mine a bit and now the only one that sticks is the one for the gas. I will probably have to pull them back apart and pull the needles up a bit more. Good luck, Brad

I think I'll put a call in to Dominic (Cardoc) at Speedpeople since this many of us are having problems. Maybe he's already heard it and solved it, but hasn't mentioned it to us? Otherwise, SpruceCougar's solution looks best.

I didn't do anything to adhere my gauges - I didn't see any reason to. I lined them up real good and was very meticulous when I put the black plastic frame and clear shield over them. They're all nice and centered and lined up, but the damn sticking needles!
