I have had several do this on the Cougar too - it's not something I've had happen before and I'm not sure why as I'm not doing anything different than I've always done.

So you just let it drip on to the exhaust? Last time I tightened the crap out of it, and it stopped. Then started leaking again a few weeks later, so I somehow got a few more turns in and it stopped completely. I would rather not push my luck (not that I have any) and strip it by accident.

UGH! Currently sitting on the side of the freeway...AGAIN. Car is doing random HARD bucks. Just accelerating (normal acceleration) and the engine loses power then comes back all in half a second.

It happened twice last night. I thought it was just me. Updates later.

Possibly TOB? After about 5 minutes of driving, while you're letting off the clutch, right before you completely let off, it grabs HARD. Scary. Looks like I dont know how to drive stick.
Its not only letting off the clutch, it happens when you go from coasting to just pressing the gas a little too.
    This sucks.

I actually meant slave cylinder. Either way, to make our luck even better. After receiving the call of him being pulled over, I rushed out to meet him only to find I had a flat tire. Aware of a slow leak I went for my compressor that I keep in the car. Upon going to plug the compressor in I noticed the 12 volt plug on the wiring to it was snapped in half. I ended up borrowing a co-workers car. Just to make things make more sense, after getting back one of the techs fixed the end on my compressor for me. It was then when I went to use it again I noticed the huge nail in my tire

Pats issue is likely a bad ground. You need to sell one cougar and buy a reliable car.
