    Pump driver bypass????

Since I replaced the fuel pump, I can tell that it surges the power with the motor.....

    It is a horrible design/idea.

Has anyone bypassed the driver with a 12v from the breaker to the pump without issues?

I am using a Bosch 100lph pump and I cant get this thing moving because of this issue. BTW my 54hp honda insight is faster than the car with this issue....

I installed a bosch pump, it is not working like it should, I want to bypass the variable power and go to straight 12v. Would this burnt he pump out being non return line tank?

I can only imagine that's an awful idea. If it's running at a constant 12v then it's going to be pumping at maximum constantly. With that and no return line there's going to be a huge pressure buildup in the lines and destroy the pump or blow out an o-ring.

I was under the assumption that's how the returnless fuel system worked? More throttle, pump supplies more fuel to maintain pressure...

    Re: Pump driver bypass????

Exactly. There is no fuel pressure regulator on the returnless system; the pump regulates the fuel itself.

Horrible design? It's working perfectly well for about 99.9% of us...

    Re: Pump driver bypass????

Are you sure the engine surging isn't a result of a vacuum leak somewhere....

Also, with the bosch pump, was it a direct fit into the pump housing or did you modify the housing to get it to fit.....if you modified things in/on the pump housing, you might have an internal fuel leak in the tank?

I think you need to explain your problem a little more. Is the voltage varying to your pump or are you saying your engine rpms are surging? What is the problem you are trying to remedy by changing pump voltage?

    Re: Pump driver bypass????

Cant go above 40, I can hear the pump trying to correct itself with the rpm, the engine feels like its running lean and surging when it gets fuel, then lets off again.

I didn't have to modify the housing, it fit in (most are the same)
