Re: Thinking about purchasing a 99 Cougar

A little much. I personally am buying one that is identicle in specs and condition, but for $1000 less. Try getting him to $3500.

Re: Thinking about purchasing a 99 Cougar

Not bad looking. As long as there isn't something horribly wrong 3500 would be a decent price. I mean it is a 10 year old car with 90k miles on it so could have some gremlins. But if he's an original owner and its been takin care of then I would say go for it. Mine is 99 with 90k miles MTX V6 as well and it runs like a champ. Great car to drive without breaking the bank. Fairly reasonable on milage too.

Re: Thinking about purchasing a 99 Cougar

Yeah just went to test drive it today, female driven actually lol, anyways she's the only owner, has babied it, wash and wax very often, has been in storage for a while. Half of its life spent in rust-free Victoria, BC so that's a bonus. Only 2 tiny spots of rust that I can fix no problem myself.

Getting it checked out by my mechanic this week, so if everything pans out with no major problems I'm probably not going to ask for a price reduction. If my mechanic foresees any problems I'm going to ask for 3500.

Re: Thinking about purchasing a 99 Cougar

Soooo, mechanic checked it out today.

Everything looked good :D That's a bonus.

Only 2 things that will need to be looked at in the future.

Oil pain gasket is just starting to leak
and
Strut mounts are due for a replacement.

So I'll be buying it tomorrow =)
