Re: what kind of oil do you use?

right now i really don't know, thats why i said it runs on magic. I would love to switch the oil and transmission fluid over to synthetic simply because of the great benefits i've heard from it. Which leads me to a question, I was looking at royal purple, but i don't know what i need. Should i get the 5w20 for the engine and the max atf for the transmission (MTX)?

Re: what kind of oil do you use?

I'm no expert but i dont think ATF fluid should be put into an MTX. Check out your owners manual or in your engine bay for they type of oil (weight) to use.

Re: what kind of oil do you use?

Do NOT use any sort of ATF in an MTX, regardless of what your local stealership tries to tell you! Suggested MTX-75 Fluids

I personally use the Royal Purple Synchromax and it works great. In the neighborhood of $10/quart or so, so about half of what the "Factory Recommended" "Honey" costs.

Re: what kind of oil do you use?

After the first change when I hit 3,000mi I started using Mobil-1 Synthetic. After my MTX swap I started using Royal Purple because that's what we used in the tranny.

Engine is once place I've never had a problem.

5W30 in the engine
Synchromax in the trans
Purple Ice in the coolant

I represent Royal Purple well! I even created a custom car in rFactor for RP.

Re: what kind of oil do you use?

are you running an svt or 3L or is it the 2.5?
and how often do you change it? I've been told it lasts 12000 miles but I haven't found anywhere how long it really does last...

Re: what kind of oil do you use?

Well a lot of people use oil that lastes for 12000 but use a filter thats good for 3000. So I change mine every 3000 or 5000km even tho my oil is good for 20,000km. I believe bobby's still running the stock 2.5L. Also, check your owners manual I believe 99's and 00's use 5w-30 ('99's do for sure) while 01's and 02's use 10w-30 (I coule be wrong on the 01-02's).
