Re: what kind of oil do you use?
Royal Purple 5W-30 with Motorcraft FL-820S filter here. For the record, I switched to synthetic at 125k miles (not sure what oil was ran in it by previous owner), and never really had much of a leak. The valve cover gaskets and oil pan gaskets had a slight leak afterwards, but IDK if that had anything to do with the synthetic oil. I replaced them when I had the engine and trans out last winter and haven't had a problem since.

Re: what kind of oil do you use?
from my understanding having leaks caused by switching to synthetic does not apply anymore. That came from when synthetic oil first came out and they didn't have enough of some adative to maintain seals, etc ...
if it starts leaking then there was already a leak there ... my SeVT and my SVT will get mobil 1 with a FL-300 and FL-820S resepectively and I run about 5k on the oil change. this works about to about one or two oil changes per year based on the miles I drive with the cars. the Mystqiue gets regular Castrol GTX 10w-40 and a FL-300 at about 4k per change. I did use the Valvoline high milage oil for awhile and it slowed a number of small leaks but then all of the sudden they got worse so I stopped using it.

Re: what kind of oil do you use?
My leaks could have been caused by the fact that I did dump some seafoam in the oil the day before I changed it... The oil came out lookin' NASTY...
I'm actualy getting due for another oil change on the Blazer, and the wrench turned on in the Cougar as well... Looks like as soon as I get some more money I'm gonna be doing some oil changes.

Re: what kind of oil do you use?
I use regular Pennzoil SAE 5w-30 and a Fram or Mobile One oil filter. 114,000 miles on the car, never had a problem of any kind. I just change the oil and filter regularly.

Re: what kind of oil do you use?
I switched to synthetic last year, and actually have noticed I need to top off my oil less than before (mine doesn't leak, but seems to burn/evaporate about a 2qts between changes). I am guessing the synthetic is more resistant than conventional oils.
